Fun Facts Friday {5/1}

By Courtney 27 Comments

1. Happy MAY, everyone! I feel like this is going to be such a crazy, emotional, exciting month…I’m both excited for it and sort of dreading it at the same time. Because…packing. Blech.

2. Last night was our first softball game of the season and it felt so good to be back out there! Not to mention the fact that it was basically the perfect night for a softball game.

IMG_1574

We may be on a different team, but I’ve still got my family with me (even pseudo brother Scott) so that’s what matters. Even better? I was two for two at bats – a single and a double! I credit it all to my getting “buff” in the offseason. Winking smile

3. Lucas also enjoyed softball last night. Or, rather, he enjoyed once the game was over so he could be out on the field running the bases.

IMG_1578

A little extra dirt, but boy, did he tire himself out. Perrrrrfect-o.

4. As I’m sitting down to type of this post, I’m currently snacking on a greek yogurt mixed with some PB2 and some broken up Crunch eggs. It’s fantastic.

5. I am seriously loving this gel polish from Sally Hansen.

sally hansen miracle gel pinky rings

I picked it up last week (it’s the miracle gel in Pinky Rings), painted my nails last Friday, and a week later, they still aren’t looking bad! (Granted, my cuticles are another story…)

IMG_1560

I’m pretty tough on my nails, too, so I will say that I am pleasantly surprised by this stuff. Definitely beats going to pay for it every time!

6. So I haven’t mentioned it until now, but for the past month, I’ve been drinking Shakeology shakes every morning for breakfast and I. am. obsessed. I got talking a bit with a friend of a friend, and after trying a couple samples, I decided I loved it enough to purchase it on my own.

shakeology

They’ve been making my mornings incredibly easy, and it is probably one of the best protein powders I’ve tried. And on top of that, I feel amazing. I’ve had increased energy, less belly bloat, and just an overall really great feeling.

shakeology

My favorite combo is Chocolate Peanut Butter – I blend up ½ frozen banana, 1 scoop chocolate Shakeology, ~1 tbsp peanut butter, almond milk, water, and ice. It tastes like a freakin’ Reese’s milkshake, I’m not kidding. And if I’m being totally honest, I never ever thought I’d be a “shake for breakfast every morning” kinda person (coming from the one who has a toaster oven at her desk). But the more I drink it, the more I love it.

shakeology

Full Disclosure here, too…I am a Beachbody coach. I haven’t really talked much about it, but I wanted to ensure I truly loved the product before I ever said anything to you guys about it. But please don’t misinterpret this; it doesn’t mean that this is going to become a “you must buy Beachbody” blog by any means. If you’re looking for some support or interested in any of the products? Awesome. I’m absolutely available and would love to help you out! If it’s not your thing, I totally get it and respect that.

I mean, I think you all already know how I feel about sales…it’s just not something I enjoy. But that’s also not why I’m in this either. I’m in it because I love the workouts and have been doing them for a year now, I love the Shakeology, and I’m also in it because I love helping others. You guys should already know that. So if you’re at all interested, drop me an email (sweettoothcourtney at gmail dot com) or leave your email address below. We have some great challenge groups this month, and I’d be happy to fill ya in on the details! And if you’re not interested? No problem-o. Things are staying the same around here.

7. We are still totally loving House of Cards over here. We’re about 5 episodes in to the first season and we struggle every time with stopping at just one episode. Damn you, Netflix, for only giving me that brief, 20 or so seconds to decide!

8. This past week has been some of the most gorgeous weather we’ve seen in a LONG time. Mid to upper 60’s and sunny. Talk about a mood lifter.

9.  A little inspiration for your Friday…

success is getting what you want

10. I tried so hard to get a 10th fun fact but…I’ve got nothin’. Time to go unwind for a bit before calling it a night!

Happy FRIDAY to you all! Hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead! <3

What is the difference between Shakeology and protein powder? You just reminded me that I have 2 packs of PB2! I love mixing it with plain yogurt!

I feel ya on packing. I hate it! But, the good thing is, I always get rid of tons of junk when moving. I've been eyeing gel polish at the store. I'm glad to know it works! I've hesitated on purchasing some because of the price, but if it works, I think it's well worth it. Better than a $25 charge each time at the nail salon. In my head I'll never be a "shake for breakfast" person either. But, it sounds like I may have to try Shakeology!

I'd love to hear a little bit more about the workout programs you help out with! I'm running a marathon this weekend (so excited!), but I'm looking to build in more HIIT and strength training to switch things up once it's over. I've never been good about consistently strength training, and weights at the gym seem a little too intense for me, so the bodyweight/at home stuff you've posted about sounds right up my alley. My email address is lexteevens@gmail.com if you have time to send some more information. Thanks, and happy Friday!!

I wish I could get motivated to make more shakes/smoothies. Cleaning the blender always seems like such a chore, so I rarely do it. (Yes, I realize it's not that big a chore, but still...) Happy Friday!

I'm curious about Shakeology! I noticed it has a disclaimer if you are pregnant or nursing, which makes me wonder about it. Does the protein powder have all the vitamins and minerals included in it then you add the real food and ingrediants to the shake? I've seen a few bloggers talking about it and am just curious beacuse it seems like a step away from the whole eat real foods idea so I'd like to learn more to hear if I'm wrong!

We just started HOC and are HOOKED! I am with you, Netflix makes it almost impossible to stop at one episode. I swear that is how we crushed Friday Night Lights and Parenthood. Haha.

Ha! I have the same barbie pink Sally Hansen gel on my nails. I tried out my sister's bottles of it last Sunday and it has made it almost a whole week and no chips! I'm going to have to go out and buy some for myself now. The hubs and I bought the 21 Day Fix and the 21 Day Fix Extreme challenge packs in April. Love the shakes, not so crazy about the diet. Got sick about a week into the program and didn't work out for 10 days when I was down and out on antibiotics. Even without working out the whole 21 days, I'm down 3lbs and the hubs is down 6lbs. Going to start back up again here shortly. Our favorite shakeology combo is the vanilla with banana, peanut butter, and honey. Tasted like birthday cake.

I am so happy to see you are back playing softball again this season - I know not playing was something you were struggling with last year! So cute seeing Lucas out there on the field....I see a baseball player in your future :-)

I'm so intrigued by SHakeology, but I've never even liked protein powder, and it's soooo expensive that I'm anxious to try it. But I've heard SUCH good things about it.

I love that Sally Hansen gel polish too. It definitely lasts longer than regular polish! I tried Shakeology a couple years ago and remember loving it, but I can't get past the price. It's just too much. That's awesome you're a Beachbody coach. I've considered taking that route ... but trying to decide if I really want to add another "thing" on to my plate.

Hi Courtney! I've been doing the 21 day fix workouts for 3 weeks now and love it!! However, I haven't tried the Shakeology yet. It's pretty expensive and so I've been using my husband's whey protein powder. After hearing a lot of positive feedback about Shakeology I'd love to try it. Also I really need some extra motivation to stick to these workouts. I have an 11 month old son and work 40 hours a week so any extra encouragement you could send my way would be wonderful!! Thank You! Holly.Joyner@Brooklane.org

Welcome to the world of Beachbody Coaching!!! I'm a Beachbody Coach and LOVE it! It's so motivating to help others get fit and healthy! I loved sharing my love of health and fitness with others. I also LOVE Shakeology! My favorite is a 1/2 scoop of vanilla and 1/2 scoop of chocolate mixed with almond milk. Tastes like a black and white milkshake. Best of luck with your coaching business!!

Courtney, what brand of black dress shoes are you wearing in the pic above? They look super cute but comfy too! I've been looking for comfy yet office appropriate shoes and it's really hard to find any that don't look like they were made for an old lady. Thanks!
