First and foremost, I need to send out a big HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all the very special Dads out there (but most importantly, MY Dad) :-D
I got my Sunday started bright and early with a trip to the gym. Normally, my Sunday routine is to do 25 mins elliptical + BodyPump, but on my drive there, I realized I really wasn’t feelin’ the class. My shoulder has kind of been bothering me lately (my throwing arm in softball), and I’ve been feeling it when taking class. So, rather than push myself to pain, I decided to shake things up a bit — we all need to do it every once in a while anyways! ;)
My body was craving cardio, so that’s what I gave it. I started with 20 minutes on the elliptical (2 miles), followed by 20 minutes on the treadmill doing intervals (2 miles), and finished up with 15 minutes on the StairMaster. Now, I have to tell you…I had been a StairMaster virgin up until today (yes, crazy, I know…). It just never really interested me? Well, can I just say – WOW! That machine kicked my rear (yes, pun intended) ;) I was absolutely amazed at how good of a workout it gave me, and how I was sweating buckets by the time I stepped off.
After finishing up my cardio, I headed down to the weights, and did some work with the free weights on triceps, biceps, and back. And finally, I finished up my morning with a little ab work, using a couple of the machines that my gym has. It was definitely a fabulous workout, and I ended up finishing about 5 minutes earlier than my Pump class would have finished. Super! :)
I was totally disgusting by the time I got home. I seriously could not jump in the shower fast enough! After finally feeling back to normal, it was time for Jay and I to set out for some Father’s Day festivities. Before heading out the door, Jay got distracted by a mysterious card in the living room…
I’m tellin’ you guys, this cat is no joke! Look what I caught him doing earlier this morning while getting ready for the gym…
He was hard at work! ;)
What can I say — the little guy loves his Daddy! :-D
So after Jay got his beautiful Father’s Day card, we were on our way to our first stop, which was for brunch with Jay’s parents. They told us that we could decide where to go, so we figured we’d introduce them to one of our favorite places: Flavour Cafe! :)
I got things started with a coffee – a mix of Very Vanilla & Jamaican Me Crazy. It was a totally awesome combo — one of the reasons I love Flavour is because you have the option to mix up whatever you want!
For brunch, I ordered the Breakfast Wrap, which was egg whites, provolone cheese, ham, & salsa, all wrapped up in an herb wrap. I’ve had this once before, and this time surely did NOT disappoint. It was FABULOUS and I devoured pretty much the entire thing. :-P
Jay and his parents all decided that they wanted to try some of the frozen drinks that Flavour offers…holy YUM! Jay & his mom ordered the Orange Creamsicle, while his dad got a “Razmanian Devil” which was raspberry and white chocolate. I got to try both and they were both equally dangerous and delicious!
After brunch & a couple errands, it was off for stop #2: my parent’s house for a bbq. What is it about summer time and a barbecue — I just can’t get enough of it! Mom put together a yummy dinner of grilled marinated chicken, corn on the cob, & a fresh tossed salad. I actually wound up cutting up the chicken and putting it IN to my salad, which made everything so much tastier.
My parent’s dog, Baxter, also enjoys his corn on the cob — he enjoys the entire thing, cob and all!
While I was at my parent’s house, I snuck into some photo albums to find some of my favorite pictures of me and Dad. I just love looking back and reminiscing on the old days!
Here’s to a Dad who has always been there for his little girl…
He taught me sports & shared his love of bowling with me
And still continues to enjoy them with me
He showed me the importance of sleep
He helped me develop my love for cake
He stands by me no matter what
He believes in me and reminds me that I can do whatever I set my mind to
He is my Dad
He is my Hero
Happy Father’s Day to the World’s Greatest Dad. I am one lucky girl! :)

My favorite memory of my Dad and me is yesterday when he took my girls and I for a ride in his new (new to him) mustang convertible. It was so great…….us girls rode with our hands in the air as if we were on a roller coaster.
