It’s been a while since we had one of these posts over here, hasn’t it? They’re a fun mix of two of my favorite things though, so I feel like I want to start doing them more often!
So in terms of the fashion talk…ahh, I wish I had some more fun or “fashionable” outfits to share today. But, sadly, I’ve really been lacking in the creativity department. I have no doubt that my closet has a myriad of pieces that could certainly put together a great outfit…but when it comes to the mornings, I give myself all of about 5 minutes to pick out and iron an outfit, so there’s that.
I need help…any personal stylists out there want to come and revamp my wardrobe for meeeee?!? I pay in wine and cupcakes.
Well, until that happens, I guess I’ll just go ahead and share what I’ve got for ya today. I haven’t taken too many photos lately, since some of these outfits date back to nearly Christmas…I guess I’ll have to work on that.
A “hanging out with the in-laws the day after Christmas” look…
- Sweater: London Sweater in Cannes via Express
- Leggings: HUE leggings via Nordstrom
- Boots: Kaylor Slouchy boots via Target
A weekend birthday party (from a couple of weeks ago) look…
- Sweater: PAPERMOON Delphina Striped Knit Top via Stitch Fix
- Skinny Jeans: Gap Outlet
- Boots: Bear Traps via Macy’s (from a few years ago, but the Kyletta is similar)
- Bag: Urban Expressions Otis Mixed Material Crossbody Bag via Stitch Fix
- Necklace: Claire’s (from a few years ago)
A more casual “didn’t give myself time to wash my hair” work day look…
- Turtleneck Sweater: Gap (from a couple of seasons ago but similar, similar, similar)
- Jeans: Just Black via Stitch Fix
- Boots: Kaylor Slouchy boots via Target
An “I’m adding a sweater because the office was FREEZING yesterday” work day look…
- Sweater: Open Front Cardigan via Old Navy (similar, similar)
- Shirt: Button Front Shirt via Old Navy (similar)
- Pants: Kut From The Kloth Danny 5-Pocket Knit Pant via Stitch Fix
- Boots: So old…can’t remember! But similar, similar, similar.

Now let’s switch gears a bit…I have some random food photos I found on the iPhone the other day, so I figured, hey, why not share ’em!? And if I already have shared some and am just losing my mind then, well, forgive me. ;)
This was a quick, throw-together weeknight meal a couple of weeks ago. Some marinated chicken tenders cooked on the griddler, paired with some roasted fingerling potatoes and broccoli. Nothing fancy, but quick and easy for sure.
This was another quick weeknight meal, not much different than above. Grilled chicken, rice, and green beans. I feel like this here is part of the reason I’ve decided to get back into the meal planning mode…dinners had been getting BOR-ING.
Here’s a random photo of a plate full of the cookies I made recently. Jay and I scarfed those down, most likely while watching Orange is the New Black…which, by the way, we finished watching on Monday night (after watching the last three episodes in a row until almost 11pm…). Time to pick a new show!
Oh, Testo’s. We absolutely LOVE their food, and anytime we’re feeling lazy and want something delivered, we tend to go for Testo’s. Their Pasta Fagioli is, hands down, my favorite thing…buuut, their meatballs come in at a close second. So when we ordered from them recently, I got the best of both worlds: the appetizer sized soup (which was still big enough for two servings) + 2 meatballs.
And for those of you who ask…Testo’s is where we wind up with all of the containers I like to use for my salads (see below)!
Here was another one of my lunch salads from earlier in the week. You already saw what my bases look like (lettuce/spinach, cucumbers, shredded carrots, grape tomatoes, onion, and dried cranberries are typical for me), and then the night before, I’ll add the rest. For this salad, it was grilled chicken tenders and a blob of goat cheese (currently obsessed right now) with dressing and croutons on the side. Mmmm mmmm.
Now here is a box full of cookies that, somehow, wound up on my desk at work earlier this week. We’ve had some of our remote employees in for company events this week, and I believe that these came from someone who works in our UK office. Again, I don’t know how they wound up on my desk, but that was TROUBLE.
They were pure deliciousness…and, actually, reminded me a lot of the cookies they make here in the blue tin. SO good.
Well, there ya have it! A little mix of everything today. ;)

Hi, can I have your hair? Please and thank you. Or, can I learn to blowdry my hair to look even partially as nice as yours? :)
Linz @ Itz Linz says
your outfits are so cute! it’s always trouble for me when there are snacks in the teacher’s lounge at school…. and after the holidays… there ALWAYS is something in there!
Karen @ Running on Tea says
Yep they’re from the UK alright! We have them in Ireland too and they are so incredibly delicious, and so rich and smooth you can almost taste the butter. My parents are addicted, my mam refuses to buy them except for one tin at Christmas because they just disappear!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I’ve been meaning to tell you – I got HUE leggings for Christmas and I LOOOOOOOVE them. Wide waistband for the win!
Stacie @ SimplySouthernStacie says
There’s something about shortbread cookies that just makes me think of Christmas. They are so incredibly good!
Sara @ Lake Shore Runner says
Your outfits are cute!
Testo’s looks great….I love when restaurants give great containers for carryout so you can reuse them. I bring all my meals to work so I love a good tupperwear :)
Mimi says
Cute outfits!! Love those cookies, so buttery hmmm… :)
Brynn says
Love your curly hair! Do you use a curler?
Sarah B says
You should watch Recrify on Netflix next! So addicting!!! Season 2 should be coming soon, I hope.
Nicole says
How do you get your hair to curl and keep so much volume?? It always looks awesome!!!!!
Stacey M. says
I love these OOTD posts too, so I’m glad you’ve decided to keep them around. And don’t worry – I think I have the same lack of fashion ability that you have. I’m sure I could create some awesome outfits with what’s in my closet, but at 5 a.m. I lack the ability to think about it too much. I guess that’s why I feel like I wear the same things over and over again.
I’m seriously thinking I need to order a pair of those HUE leggings. By the sounds of it, they are the best thing going and I love that they have a wide waistband. I’m also on the hunt for a decent pair of jeggings, or skinny jeans that don’t stretch out.

My hubby and I just finished “True Detective” and we were staying up late every night to watch those! Love the outfits! You have such a great sense of style.
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
Your outfits looks great! It’s awesome that you have a more casual work environment. Love all the skinnies and boots. My favorite go-to’s this time of year!
Bethany says

Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine says
I love your outfits!….And the food! Haha! That turtleneck is so pretty! I own like one turtleneck :P But I love them!
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
You just reminded me that I really, really need to make cookies soon! I’m also adding sweaters to all my work outfits lately because my office is like 60 degrees no matter what.
Emily R says
Hello, I have been a long time reader (few years now) and love all your posts. Keep up the great work!! I am an early riser (5:15am) as well, to get up and do my daily workout and find that leaving my close out the night before I get into bed helps ;0)
Happy Hump Day and Hope you have a fantastic Day
Courtney says
Hey Emily, thanks for reading!! I know…I used to do that but then I’d find that whatever I picked out at night I just never wanted to wear the next morning. Haha, go figure?!
Christy says
We just finished binge watching the first 2 seasons of the killing on netflix… The ending had quite the twist!!
Heather @ Housewife Glamour says
Slouchy boots! Those are so cute! I gave a really old pair of black ones I wore to the ground away recently and completely forgot they existed. I need to invest in another pair! Cute outfits – very comfy, dress casual (if that’s even a thing) which is always up my alley. Love the eats too!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Love your style missus!!! Especially the last cardigan and those meatballs looks AWESOME!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Isn’t it funny that you always take pictures of meals whether you have a need for the photo or not? And I just love the look of your hair up with glasses. Your outfits are cute, so keep on rocking that style. By the way, choose Weeds next for your series to binge watch!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
I think you did a great job with your outfits! Love the sweaters and boots pairings. Get Your Pretty On regularly has style challenges that have helped me put together outfits I would never think of with lots of stuff already in my closet. It’s been really helpful for me!
Jen@jpabstfitness says
Your outfits are so cute, I am loving that sweater from Stitch Fix!
Gahh, those blue tin cookies get me every time, so damn delicious.
Shawna says
Testo’s! i have never been, but i was friends with one of the Testo boys (whose fam owns the restaurant) in college — we did theater together! :)
Courtney says
Oh how funny! We know quite a few of them too :)
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
I love putting goat cheese on my salads too. It always feels like a treat when I do it.
Danica @ It's Progression says
I’m looking for a few shirts/sweaters that I can wear with leggings and boots, but they have to be long. I love that sweater from Express! It doesn’t look very long on the site, but it does on you. Did you have to get a size up from normal for it to be longer looking on you or is it just actually longer than the website shows?
Courtney says
I ordered my normal size! I almost went back and got a size smaller but decided I just liked the somewhat baggy, cozy feel. Plus I wanted to make sure it covered the backside ;)
Danica @ It's Progression says
haha That’s exactly what I’m looking for – especially when it’s going over leggings :) Thanks!
Kristy @ Southern In-Law says
Your OOTD’s are cute – you would not want to see mine haha! I am so boring when it comes to clothes – especially if I’m just working from home and don’t have any client meetings on.
Katie says
I LOVE those blue tin cookies! So I woulda been all over those too. yum :) Sometimes, if I’m ambitious on a Sunday evening, I’ll brainstorm a few outfit ideas (or at least tops) and hang them in a different section of my closet. Def a time saver throughout the week.
