Out Of Hiding

By Courtney 30 Comments

Me and my buddy have been spending a lot of time together this afternoon.

IMG_3964

Now that it’s finally not 95 degrees in the house, he’s come back out from all of his “cool” hiding places and has been ready to play.

IMG_3974IMG_3977

I swear, the little man could have played fetch all morning long. He even had some pretty good ups that could have outdid his last showing. But eventually, mama needed a break for some lunch. He wasn’t all that cool with it…

“C’mon mom…we were just having fun. Haven’t you missed me the past two days?”IMG_3956

Of course I have bud, of course. But when a girl’s gotta eat…

IMG_3963

a girl’s gotta EAT!

Once again, I was all over the place with lunch, craving a little bit of everything. So first up was a very patriotic yogurt bowl made with vanilla Chobani, strawberries, blueberries, and some granola.

IMG_3960

Next was some colorful veggies + tomato-basil hommus.

IMG_3958

And last but not least…

IMG_3966

I couldn’t do that baking this morning and not have anything left in the house for me. Luckily, I had two ripe bananas that needed to be used up, so I made a batch of my Basic Banana Muffins…only this time, I added dark chocolate chips to half of the batch.

IMG_3969

Mmmmm hmmmmm. Smile

I’ve already had 1-1/2 and it’s only a matter of time before I go back for that second half…

I don’t know about any of you, but today seems to be FLYING by for me! Where does the time go?!?

Question for the Afternoon:

What’s your favorite muffin flavor/combo?

My favorite actually comes from my local grocery store, Price Chopper, who makes a Blueberry Oat Bran muffin that is absolutely to die for. Unfortunately, they don’t make them very often…or fortunately, I suppose. Winking smile

I really love lemon poppyseed, but I want to try a sweet potato + coconut combo because I just think that flavor combination is amazing.

I love the patriotic berries! Those muffins sound really good--never thought of adding chocolate chips before. Favorite type of muffin flavor combo would have to be lemon poppyseed with sliced almonds on top.

I love blueberry muffins! Every Friday morning, my work provides us with free breakfast. I always make sure to grab a blueberry muffin. I'm not sure where they order them from but they are definitely the best! :)

I'm torn between blueberry and lemon poppyseed. The bigger and more sugar they have, though, the better! :)

Sometimes food photos turn into food porn.. case in point: the still melted chocolate in your muffin. My fav muffin combo? Probably a carrot/ walnut muffin. Not probably... definitely.

Cody must be so happy that the heat wave is over. For an indulgent muffin/cupcake, I love heated-up chocolate chip muffins from Dunkin'. They're so good and very dessert worthy. For a regular muffin, my favorite flavor is blueberry, with plenty of juicy berries :)

Oh gosh, that's tough! I'll always love the boxed funfetti, but I might have to say the yellow cake with caramel mousse filling that we had at our wedding would be at the top of my list. It was incredible!

Peanut and Leo hid under the table to stay cool the last few days but today Leo wanted to run and play. Silly pets don't understand we didn't sleep the last two days away. My favorite muffin is a pear spiced muffin. I make them at home but was inspired by ones at a local bakery. Just enough ginger and clove for a bite with the sweet pear.

That's a toughy. Either strawberry banana or banana coconut. I've never been all that into muffins until recently. I love concocting new recipes!
