This weekend was absolutely beautiful. Sunny skies, high temps…all perfect for spending as many minutes as possible poolside. And that’s basically all we did. I can’t remember the last time we spent this much time out at a pool?
I wasn’t really up for a whole lot just yet, and we did pass on a few offers for plans to go out (sorry, friends). My moods are still all over the place (a combination, I’m sure, of hormones being all out of whack and still dealing with emotions), so I just needed to lay low and catch some sun. In the end, that sums up just about our whole weekend, give or take a few things…so here are a few highlights, sentence per picture style because it’s late Sunday night and I’m sleepy.
Pool time started by 10am on Saturday, and we hardly ever left the water.
The little fish joined in after his nap and got daring enough to even jump off the diving board (with us holding his hands, of course).
A late lunch of grilled hot dogs, courtesy of Papa.
And a later dinner of yummy chicken stir-fry, courtesy of Nana (living with parents isn’t so bad, ya know!).
Silly faces from my flip flop stealing, doesn’t want to eat dinner…ever, character of an almost two year old.
Sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits for breakfast…again, courtesy of Papa!
Loves helping his Papa whenever he can…which gives mama a little bit of a break.
A nice little visit from Brian and Mal, spent where else?
They even came with gifts: beer and the most amazing muddy buddies (she saw my request a few weeks ago!). Such a nice gesture from them…we <3 our friend/cousins.
Crackers, pepperoni, and cheese make for fantastic poolside snacks.
More poolside action took place at Grammy and Papa T’s house on Sunday…and I think that’s the last time I’ll say poolside in this post finally.
We got to see Codyyyyyyyy and he’s apparently running the house over there. Less than a month, Codeman and we’re finally stealing you back!
An absolutely delicious dinner of steak, mac salad (x2-3 more, at least), potato salad, steamed asparagus, and corn on the cob.
Followed up with a delicious dessert of angel food cake, strawberries, and whipped topping. Hello, summer.
And now I need to go ahead and close up the container of muddy buddies sitting next to me and get ready for bed.
The weekend was a nice distraction from everything that’s been going on, and I’m not really looking forward to heading back to work where my mind can easily wander. But hopefully things will be busy enough to keep me preoccupied and things will continue to get easier as we go along. <3
I hope all of you guys have a wonderful week ahead, and I’ll catch you tomorrow with a delicious giveaway. So stay tuned!
Looks like a great weekend spent with family. Glad to see you have such great people surrounding you during this time. Prayers for you and your family!
Looks like a nice and relaxing weekend. Best way to spend a summer day for sure! It looks like you have some great support surrounding you through this tough time. Not that it makes it better, but hopefully it helps! Thinking of you and your little family!
it is funny how things work out. Sounds like a blessing to be at your parents for extra love, support and care.
a great weekend with family, sunshine, good eats = always the best cure.
I love pool days! We had family in town this weekend and spent most of our time in the pool as well. It’s a nice break from the Dallas heat! :)
glad you had a relaxing weekend! this weekend was the pool (well, splash pad for us) weekend too as it was like 95 degrees and crazy humid!!
That angel food cake with strawberries looks pretty tasty. My favorite summer desserts are those that have fresh fruit in them.
Glad to hear that you had a great weekend Courtney! Since I just went through this a few weeks ago I want you to know that it does get easier. For the first little bit it was always on my mind but now I’m finding that I think of it less and less. Also, take lots of time for relaxation and rest because it is surprising how much it takes out of you and how your hormones make you feel. It sounds like you have a great support system around you which is what helped me out during this difficult time.
Take care and hope your day at work goes well and flies by :)
This weekend looks perfect! You can never go wrong with pool time with good friends and family plus all those delicious meals!
I am so jealous of your weekend at the pool! I am hoping for 1…just 1 nice day this week to make it to the pool!
I was totally craving a pool day this past weekend! Unfortunately it was more a “get things type done” couple of days, but here’s hoping for next Saturday. A day of relaxation definitely helps when you are going through things and need to reflect.
Glad you had a nice relaxing weekend! Sometimes a little pool time (with help from our own parents) is exactly what we need :)
Sounds like the perfect weekend reset – good food, great company, and time in the sun. Hope your week gets off to a good start, as well :)
I love the hot dog delivery in the pool!
I’m glad you got some downtime by the pool this weekend. Relaxation and Vitamin D does wonders! xoxo
Your little fish looks adorable :) I need some pool time s well, we have one in the apartment complex where we live, but this summer I still didn’t get a chance to go!
Eating food by the pool with the ones you love makes everything ten times more delicious! Your son is so adorable, I hope he enjoyed the family time. Can’t wait to see what you have planned for tomorrow ;).
Your weekend sounds like the definition of summer!
Pool time in the summer is the best, but so is family! Glad you guys had so much fun.
I love pool-time weekends! they’re always so refreshing (haha) and relaxing. I’m glad you got to spend quality time with people who care about/for you. Hugs!
