1. I started drafting this post up on Monday with the intention of gradually coming back and fillings things in when they came to me. I didn’t come back to it until last night.
2. The other day (when I was stuck in the car) one of the radio stations was having a throwback lunch hour. First song I heard was “Puppy Love” by Bow Wow…and the next song to follow was “The Thong Song” by Sisqo. Talk about bringin’ it back to the high school years! I love when I have memories behind certain songs.
3. This weekend, we’re hoping to get Lucas his Halloween costume. I’m so excited, and yet, we still can’t even decide on what we want him to be. No surprise there.
4. This weekend, we’re also planning on heading out to Chowderfest! (wow, that was from three years ago!) It’s always so much fun, and the weather is supposed to be great, so it should (hopefully) be a great day to take the babe in the stroller and enjoy some chowder.
5. I’ve been toying with the idea of cutting my hair again. It feels just so long and…blah these days. Part of me wants to totally change things up – color and all. We’ll see if I really have the balls to do it though.
6. Have you guys heard about these new Godiva truffles?
*Full disclosure: I was asked to share this video in a blog post as part of a promotion, but after seeing the video and reading about the product, I totally needed to get my hands on a box. Soooo, I agreed to share…and then I ordered some.
The cake truffle flight, to be exact. Can’t WAIT to see how these babies taste. Mmm mmmmm.
7. Yesterday, I did some major damage at Old Navy. And it was awesome. Gotta love the Stuff and Save event!
Yes, I bought both the button up and the vest!
Besides picking up the occasional top at Target here and there, it was my first real shopping trip for non-maternity clothes in well over a year. I’m really in need of new clothes for work, so since I can’t live in yoga pants forever (why? WHY??) I’m trying to restock the wardrobe.
8. The winner of the Love Grown Foods giveaway has been chosen!
Congrats to Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves! Please email me at sweettoothcourtney at gmail dot com with your shipping info so we can get your goodies sent to you!
9. If it wasn’t for a friend on Facebook just recently sending me a message about them, I would have totally forgotten all about my Apple Cider Cupcakes with Apple Cider Cream Cheese Frosting. Umm, yeah. If I can get my act together, I am soooo making these this weekend.
10. Did you guys know Trader Joe’s has pumpkins for only $3.99?? I stopped by yesterday and was super psyched to see them for that price…I feel like they’re usually closer to $8-10 anywhere else I look?
11. I’m looking forward to having a beer tonight. Just sayin’.
12. Have you guys heard about the nibble cake pan?
Talk about a genius idea. Need to get my hands on one of those ASAP.
13. I can’t do a Fun Facts Friday anymore without sharing a picture of Lucas.
And good news! He apparently did “great” with the babysitter yesterday! And actually, I should stop referring to her as a “babysitter” because it’s our good friend Erika who will be watching him. We did have another sitter all lined up, but a few weeks ago I had a breakdown and decided I just couldn’t send him to a stranger. I know many people do, and it’s totally fine…and I’m sure the woman we met with before is fantastic…but I just couldn’t do it. I’m having a hard enough time as it is. So it really just worked out so great and Lucas will be going to daycare with Erika and her little girl Sophie. He’ll have a friend to hang out with everyday…and that helps mama feel slightly better.
That’s all I’ve got today, friends! Happy Fridayyyyy!
Stacey M. says
Yay! So glad to hear Lucas did well with your friend Erika … I bet that takes a lot of worry off of your shoulders. And, speaking of Lucas, is it just me or does he get cuter by the minute?!
I’m with you on the hair cut thing … my hair has been feeling “blah” lately too. While I’d like to cut it a little shorter, I’m trying to keep it long for a wedding I’ll be in next February. I think if you’re looking to make a more drastic change, maybe start by just cutting off some of the length and seeing how you like that. Then, you can play around with color … just a thought!
I’ve also been shopping around a little more the past couple months in an attempt to “freshen up” my wardrobe. I feel like I wear the same style of clothes all.the.time and really want a change. So far, I’ve found some great deals at LOFT (which I love), but I would really like to get to Old Navy as well. LOVE your outfit from there … you are looking wonderful lady!
Have a great weekend, and enjoy the weather! I know I will … it’s not too often that we have such nice weather in Upstate New York this time of year!
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says
OMG…that chocolate!! I need that in my life! I love Old Navy and it’s definitely easy to do some damage there, but so worth it! ;-)
Have a great weekend!
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl says
That nibble cake pan is the best invention ever! I’ve got to get my hands on one of those! Sounds like you are going to have a fun weekend. Enjoy!
Madison says
That cake pan makes me smile! And so does Godiva!
Leigha @ Minougirl says
I think I have to make these muffins today! I totally think you should try a new ‘do. Hair always grows back, right?! ;) Enjoy that beer tonight!
Lisa says
I can’t wait to see what you pick up Lucas for Halloween! Babies in costumes are just too cute for words.
Oh man, the good ol’ throw back songs. Some of them are just ridiculous and I totally used to love them.
Have a fun weekend! And definitely enjoy that beer:)
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
Um, that cake pan is GENIUS. I was just in that predicament a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to make sure a cake tasted OK before an event, but I didn’t want to sneak a taste and ruin the look of it!
And I’m so glad you were able to line up a friend to watch him! I’m sure that’s a huge relief!
Chelsea @ A Fit LittleOne says
I don’t blame you for not wanting to leave him with someone you don’t know!! I’d feel weird about doing that too. Yum to pumpkin anything. There’s this place I like to go in the fall for Apple Fritters, made fresh everyday with the apples they grow (you can pick your own apples to buy too), and I just got an awesome idea, they should totally make pumpkin fritters/donuts!!! Can’t wait to see what you pick for Lucas to be :D! Have a great Friday!!
Kelly @ Femme Fitale says
When do you go back to work? I can imagine that is so hard!!!! I still can’t believe how short the mat leave is in the States. Lucas will be just fine, and I think it’s great that he is with someone you are already comfortable with ;)
ALSO, That cake pan is genius!!!!!!!!
Dalits says
Hey Courtney ! So confused…. Why are you going back to work?? I swear you stayed at home for 1.5 years after teaching ended..why not do the same now?
Courtney says
I still had other jobs (working at a salon, personal training, substitute teaching) during a lot of that time so we had other income. With a baby at home, expenses are higher now too and we just do better as a two income family.
Dalis says
Hi Courtney-
Thanks for response. I was just curious and feel bad if my question was insensitive . I know how hard working moms have it, since I am one. Good luck with everything:)
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun says
I know how you feel with the hair! I have been saying since 2 years ago after my wedding that my hair was long and blah…it took me over 2 years to finally schedule an appointment. I went with a long bob so it wasn’t TOO short and I love it! It is nice to have a style again instead of just letting my hair hang.
Love the picture of little Lucas!! Glad you have a babysitter you are comfortable with :)
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
LOVE that Old Navy outfit…that sale sounds DANGEROUS!! ;)
Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
I know what you mean about wanting to do something drastic with your hair but then always kind of chickening out at the last minute — story of my life. I’ve actually been wanting to try out a pixie cut for years now, but the idea of cutting off all my hair and then having to worry about it going through those awkward growth stages just… yeah, no. Can’t do it.
And I’m pretty sure that I’d be the same way when it came time to give my kids over to a babysitter. Glad to hear that Lucas did great though :D
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves says
Woohoo! This is my first time winning a giveaway so I am pumped! Thanks so much, Courtney.
I’m so excited to see Lucas’ costume! And glad to hear he did well with Erika :) Those Godiva truffles look like the bomb too.
Parita @ myinnershakti says
Those truffles need to be in my life ASAP!!!
And yay for the optimal babysitting situation! What a relief for you and Jay. :)
Jana @ Happy Wife Healthy Life says
Loving that old navy outfit girl! Plaid with a vest is my go-to this fall! :)
So glad you were able to find a great friend to watch Lucas! I am sure that takes so much pressure an stress off you, especially that he will have a little playmate joining him too! ;)
Jenny says
Awww! Going back to work is so hard!! I cried my eyes out for a week. I actually told the sitter not to tell me any of the “firsts” that Mackenzie had, i.e. first rollover, first raspberry, first “da da”, etc. That way when I saw her do it it was like it was the first time she did it. I didn’t want to be heartbroken that I missed out on a milestone.
Danica @ It's Progression says
I haven’t been clothes shopping in a long time but just saw this morning that Old Navy is having a huge sale right now…my husband and I decided to go there after work tonight and I’m really hoping to have some luck! It’s kind of a hit-or-miss place for me, but I love their prices!
Heather @fitncookies says
I’m sure it is such a relief that your friend will be watching him! I am hopeful that my mom and husbands mom will be able to watch ours whenever that happens. Loveeee the shirt and vest! Adorable!
Sammy @ Peace Love and Ice Cream says
Love Old Navy! Cute vest!
I too am thinking about a change-up for my hair!! It’s SO long! I always do this…it gets long, so I cut it….then I want it long again so I grow it out, etc, etc, etc. Last time I donated it (the ponytail has to be I think 8 or 10 inches!) so that made my decision pretty easy!
It’s great you’ll be leaving Lucas and he’ll have a friend. Even interaction between kids at that age is important!! :)

Miranda @ Lovely Wife Lovely Life says
I was going to go hit up Old Navy soon but found out the nearest one is 300 miles from me :( #montanaprobs My dad couldn’t trust a babysitter either with me or my sister. We never had one growing up and we both turned out perfectly fine, so no worries ;)
Leena says
Hi Courtney,
I just wanted ask where did you buy your maternity wear from? I am trying to find something nice I buy things and end up returning it. I am just 4 1/2 month pregnant right now. Can you please help.
Courtney says
I got a lot of mine from destination maternity! Some from Target too :)
Kelsey @ Ramblings of Change says
I definitely feel like my wardrobe is in desparate need of a facelift – most of the clothes I feel like I have had since high school (which was already almost 4 years ago!) I hope that once the semester is done, I’ll have some extra money. But right now, its down to the essentials. =) I am getting my hair done tomorrow! I’m planning to go DARK, with a warm, reddish tone. The cut? I’m not quite sure!
Lauren says
Okay, so no need for Nanny Cam! Lol I’m glad you were able to get a friend to watch Lucas! I can imagine it will put you much more at ease. I NEED the sliver pan! My family is full of sliver-er-ers?
PS. BIRTHDAY CAKE TRUFFLE = TO.DIE.FOR. My aunt works for Godiva and hooked me up. I couldn’t have been happier!
Mandee says
Ok just reading the words apple cider makes me crave an apple cider donut like crazy! Hahah
That cake pan seems like a great idea but wouldn’t that little piece bake way faster than the batter in the pan? Although maybe that’s why the silicone thing is removable, so u can take it out first. I wish I had that little piece when something went wrong w a cupcake order I did and decorated so awesomely… Only for the cake to taste weirdly cocoa powdery and not right at all. Ugh!
Annette@FitnessPerks says
I want those apple cider cupcakes nowwwwwwww! Thanks for making me some ;) hehe.
I too am excited to shop for ‘normal’ clothes again–once this baby comes (I’m due tomorrow). What is the stuff & save event? Is it still going on or do you need to be specially invited? thanks!
Awesome that you found something that works for Lucas!
Linz @ Itz Linz says
you’re the second person to rave about old navy’s sale – i’ve got to get there this weekend!!
Jamie @ Sometimes Healthy Living Blog says
mmmm those truffles do sound lovely and I love that video!
You are reminding me that I need to hit up Old Navy for some wardrobe staples :-)
I can imagine how hard it would be to leave little lucas. I’m glad you found a friend to watch him :-)
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles says
Love the Old Navy outfit! Especially the plaid shirt, so cute.
I can understand not wanting to leave Lucas with someone you don’t know – as a kid, my parents would drive us across the city daily to keep us in a family friend’s daycare. Great that Lucas did well with Erika though!
Amanda Spoden says
New reader here! First, I need one of those truffles right now. Second, I have heard of the nibble pan but I feel like the small nibble part would burn, right?? Third, that is the absolute cutest baby!
Christy says
I have to do some clothes shopping as well! All my pants are too loose but my blouses are too tight across the girls (who knew that would ever be an issue??) I also had a panic attack right before starting him at the daycare. I did a spot check one day and let’s just say it wasn’t good. Fortunately a good friend of ours was able to watch him until now and we lined up another place. Some days, if you are busy at work, the day will fly and won’t be so bad. There are other days, when he’s most snuggly in the morning, that you’ll have a melt down on the way to work and you’ll miss him terribly. It doesn’t get easier. I wish I could say it did. I swear I run the numbers in my head every day to see if I could manage to stay home with him. The only thing I will say is he seems to enjoy the company of the other kids at daycare and that at least makes me feel good. Good luck!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Glad things went well with the babysitter…and that you got to get some shopping in! :) Totally need to check out that cake pan!
Katie@LifesNextBigStep says
Those truffles look to die for. and the first few days with a sitter, whether you know them or not, is super difficult (I cried the entire first day) but it does get easier. Not every day is easy, but it gets easier :)
Ellie@Fit for the soul says
Yayyy, awesome that everything worked out with “babysitter”! :D I’m leaving my almost 4month girl with my friend tomorrow too, and I seriously don’t know what to expect, eeek!
And those are some great Old Navy purchases. I never find something that looks right on me but perhaps it’s worth a visit.
Ali says
I love Old Navy’s clothes right now. I went there and did some damage the other day. It’s refreshing to buy non-maternity clothes huh!? That nibble cake pan is genius by the way!
Kristie says
Lots of fun stuff! Lucas is just adorable :-)
How awesome that your friend will be able to watch Lucas. I know my sister was grateful to have a family member watch my nephew. Takes a lot of worry off mama when you know the person watching your child!
Kelly says
I am a HUGE fan of that Old Navy outfit… I need a new vest like that, guess I’ll have to check theirs out. Um also…. Apple Cider Cupcakes w/ Apple Cider Frosting or whatever, whatever it was I have decided I need to get my hands on some of those pretty quickly. Maybe I can convince my friend to make some for me…..she is much better at anything food related than I am…. Have a GREAT weekend!
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
Omg, those truffles look AMAZING! One of my uncles actually works for Godiva, so I’ll have to see if I can get the hook-up for some of those puppies! ;-)
Michelle @ Peanut Butter and Running Shoes says
I need that chocolate!
Eryn @ Blondmindedbrunette says
Fall clothes! Old Navy is so addicting, especially since they also have such cute baby clothes. Way to easy to go in for a couple items and come out with shopping bags full. I think I will have to make a trip soon. Love the vest!
kristen @ livinlifeinlouie says
I just went to old navy too! I didnt see the plaid shirt though…. haha
Haley @Cupcakes and Sunshine says
That nibble cake pan is genius!! WOW!!!!
