1. I really need to start making oatmeal more regularly. It’s just SO good (even when it’s just made quick on the stove top with a little water and almond milk…and then topped with banana, a pinch of brown sugar, cinnamon, and peanut butter!).
2. Some nights, the stars align and we’re able to eat a full meal for dinner, all together, at the table, and there are no arguments. Other nights, we deal with meltdowns from an overtired toddler and eat takeout pizza because we forgot to take something out of the freezer…and we eat it wherever we can (aka, on the couch while nursing the little one so he’ll take a cat nap).
Never a dull moment, my friends!
3. I posted this pic on my Facebook page a couple of days ago, and for whatever reason, I’m just totally curious on how people take their coffee! So let’s hear it…what number are YOU? (and how many throughout the day!?). I’m usually 2 of #3. ;)
4. For those of you who follow along with the blog on Bloglovin‘ (thank you, by the way!) it looks like we’ve finally got the issue fixed where all of the blog comments were getting posted. So sorry about that…gotta love/hate technology sometimes!
5. Ummm…these shortbread cookies? FREAKIN AMAZING. One of my co-workers brought them over from the UK a couple of weeks ago when she was here (thanks Juliana!) and they rock. Errr, rather, they DID rock. They’re totally gone now.
6. It’s looking like we’re going to get another night out this weekend (YAY!) to be able to get out and do a little celebrating for the upcoming birthday (on Monday). Definitely looking forward to that!
7. Totally loved hearing all of your feedback from my Stitch Fix post on Wednesday (thank you!). I decided to just keep the sweatshirt and am totally going to be purchasing at least one of these shift dresses from Old Navy (thank you, thank you to all of you who recommended it!). I was back and forth on the pants but ultimately, even if it’s a trend now (I’m so out of the loop…) the hem would drive me crazy!
8. Have you guys seen/heard about these new Very Berry Cheerios? The kind folks at General Mills sent them over last week and I’ve totally enjoyed a few bowls as an evening snack. Lucas loves ’em too!
9. I’m thinking I need to do some new baking SOON. It’s been way too long! Any special requests you guys would like to see for new recipes? Cookies? Bars? Cupcakes? Valentine’s Day? Let me know!
10. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to best prevent your kids from licking their lips to the point where they’re super chapped? Lucas has been doing it to the point where it’s all red and chapped above his upper lip and it drives me crazy (as I’m sure it does for him, too!).
11. This face. I just…love him. <3
Alright my friends, I’m out for today! I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead, whatever you may be doing!

I drink my coffee way #1 about 3-4 times a day! Coffee is my favorite.
Traci says
I always have one cup of coffee in the morning, I’d say somewhere between a 3/4 on that coffee scale.
For baking, I’d vote for Valentine’s Day recipes!
Alex is SO cute :)

Not sure if this is child abuse … but a tiny spot of nail polish remover on his upper lip should do the trick! Nail polish remover usually contains a chemical called bitrex that tastes horrible! It’s what they put in there to keep kids from drinking it. Maybe I’m just thinking of that because I use it at work for something that I actually have to do today and I know I’m going to get it in my mouth at some point and I’m dreading it! But yeah, it’ll get him out of the habit of doing it because he’ll hate tasting it so much. Kind of like that stuff that keeps you from biting your nails. Again, I have no kids, so I’m not sure if that’s evil ;)

I’ve totally forgotten about oatmeal lately too, but definitely plan to get back on the oatmeal train now that you’ve reminded me. It’s such an awesome, easy breakfast for a cold winter morning. I usually eat so much oatmeal that I burn myself out on it, never want to eat it again, and then 6 months later re-discover it (like now). Such a vicious cycle.

I am a 1 kind of girl. I love the taste of coffee so much that any milk ruins it for me!

Oh my gosh the pic in the towel, so cute! I drink two (big) cups of coffee a day, one hot while getting ready one iced throughout the morning! And I like it to look like #3!

Love your blog! I’m from the Albany area and love getting recs from you. Just wanted to note it seems that I’m still getting a bloglovin notification every time someone posts a comment on your blog. Oh, technology.

Hey Julie! I’ve been in talks with both Bloglovin’ and my blog maintenance company for a couple of days now and hoping to get this resolved ASAP. I know what a pain it is – so sorry about that!

You can put vaseline on Lucas’s lips and upper lip to help with the “Lip licker’s dermatitis.” It’s pretty common in kiddos this time of year! The vaseline helps to moisturize, calms down the irritation that’s already there, and will hopefully prevent him from feeling the urge to lick more. It can be a hard habit to break.

For baking, I’d love to see some Valentine’s Day recipes!

I have my man lay his head on my leg when we watch tv. Once I spilled my mashed taters and gravy when he was asleep. He didn’t talk to me for the rest of tha night.

I have two of those Old Navy dresses in different colors – THE BEST. I dress them up for work with scarves!

Our 4 year old is a constant lip licker in the winter and get a super chapped lips. We bought 4 sticks (one for every diaper bag and purse!) of cocoa butter and apply that constantly. It helps a ton, is easy to apply, and we put it in chapped cheeks too :)

Oatmeal. YES. I always for get how dang good it is!! And filling, to boot!
I usually have 2-3 (big) mugs of coffee, most resembling #2. Once I start I can’t stop!
I’ve been feeling the baking bug lately, too. It’s been awhile since I tackled a new cupcake recipe so I think that’s direction I’m leaning for this weekend.

We’re in the same boat for lip lickers dermatitis with our toddler this winter! The only thing I’ve found is that staying ahead of it keeps the licking to a minimum. I give him a quick swipe of Burt’s Bees chapstick whenever I’m putting it on myself during the day, and I make sure that he has it on at bedtime. I’ve used Lanolin on his lip too for a couple nights (at bedtime) if it’s a bad flare up.
