Would you guys believe that it’s been six months since I last got a Stitch Fix delivery? I knew I had taken some time off from receiving the fixes, but man, talk about time flying by. I didn’t realize it had been THAT long!
So I decided to go ahead and schedule a fix for the new year.
When it comes to leaving notes for my stylist, I’m never very good at it. Most of the time, I don’t really have anything super specific to request, which doesn’t work to my benefit. So this time, I tried to at least provide a few details in my request: a new pair of black skinny jeans, a cozy sweatshirt, a casual dress, and some booties.
Sure enough, my stylist sent just about everything that I requested, but not all of them were hits and I’m still on the fence with a couple of them so I’m hoping maybe you guys will help a gal out?
Here’s a look at my fix…
JUST BLACK Drake Skinny Jean – $88.00
I am still obsessed with my black Kut from the Kloth pants that I received in a fix back in September of 2014 (WHAAAAT?!). And because of that, they’re really starting to get worn and I could use a fresh pair. These pants actually fit really great. Like, almost perfect.
The only thing I’m on the fence about is the hem on the pant legs. I thought maybe I was sent a pair that wasn’t finished/hemmed improperly, but after reaching out, it turns out that this is how the pants are made.
So these are currently up in the air…what do you guys think? Keep or Return??
PAPERMOON Breely Embroidery Detail Knit Top – $54.00
I literally could NOT get a good photo while trying to photograph this top…sadly, the picture above was the best of the bunch (eek). But regardless…the top. It just didn’t do anything for me. The color was pretty, and I did really like the detailing on the back, but it just wasn’t my favorite.
This one is a Return.
SKIES ARE BLUE Marian Knit Swing Dress – $64.00
Toss this one into the category of being on the fence, too! I really do love this dress; it’s super comfortable and, honestly, I’d probably be more likely to wear it with leggings and boots than I would with heels like I did for my little early morning photo shoot here (the dress is a little too short for this mama to wear without leggings). I also think it could be really cute paired with a denim jacket and some simple white canvas sneakers.
But I just don’t know if I’d get enough wear out of it?! So this one is still up in the air…what do you guys think? Keep or Return?
STEVE MADDEN Tobii Bootie – $90.00
I did ask for a new pair of booties in this fix, but I guess these just weren’t really what I had in mind. They’re cute, but I don’t know if they’re totally my style.
I actually really like these booties and these booties, too…so for these in my fix, they’re a Return.
INK LOVE & PEACE Heatherly Knit Sweatshirt – $58.00
Okay, I’m pretty sure I have found my absolute FAVORITE item EVER from Stitch Fix. This sweatshirt is EVERYTHING. And if they make it in more than this color, I need it and WANT it.
The material is so incredibly soft and cozy, and the fit is perfect; oversized enough to be cozy but not look frumpy.
This is basically the kind of stuff I wear about 75% of every week these days, so it was a no brainer that this needed to be in my life.
So obviously, it’s a Keeper.

Anyone else tried Stitch Fix lately? Receive anything awesome?
LOVE the sweatshirt! I want one in my life. I think the dress is super cute. It’d be great with leggings and boots, or with heels for a night out. I don’t think it’s too short, unless you have your kids with you and then just about everything is too short for all you do with kids! ha I think the black skinny pants look great on you. I have the hardest time finding pants that fit, so I’d say go for it since they do fit you so well. In my opinion, I’d probably trim those little threads off to make it look better. But I don’t think they look bad and do look like they were made to do that.
Love the pants! No to the swing dress. You can find something very similar for less than half the price.
I think you’re right – thanks Allison!
Old navy has an almost identical one – for under $20! http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=91406&vid=1&pid=281334112
Good Morn’n…….Keep the Boots, Keep the Dress, ( LuLaRoe Leggings would look Adorable with it) Send back the Pants, they look like they forget to finish them……….Have a GR8 Day !!
Thanks for the feedback, Nadine! :)
Ok, first I have to say that you look AMAZING after just giving birth to your second baby a few months ago!!!!
You definitely need to get those black skinny jeans. They look incredible! Having one pair of black skinny jeans is great for work or dressing up to go out. I am not a fan of the booties either. I found a great pair on Amazon actually, so you should check it out!
Thank you, Amanda! :)
Don’t buy the dress! way too expensive. Old Navy has the same shift dresses for so much cheaper.
2nd. Old Navy runs their similar swing dresses on sale under $15 (and they are longer).
I just went through a similar conundrum with my first Fix in awhile (although I wish that sweatshirt had been in mine)! It was an initially love at first sight with everything, but after thinking about each piece more, I either had something similar or realized it just wouldn’t work with many things in my closet. I ended up keeping a cute pair of spring sneakers and returning the rest.
If I were you, I’d keep those jeans! You need a new pair, they look fantastic on you, and the hem adds a little something extra/different. Plus, it’s not like they’ll be dragging along the ground – maybe use a little “no-fray” gel just to make sure it stays as is.
The dress is cute, but if you’re not 100% sold, I’d send it back.
Good idea on the “no-fray” gel – didn’t even realize there was such a thing! Thanks, Courtney!
I second the comment that you look great! Your legs look amazing in that dress! I agree that you should send back the black pants. I have gotten several pairs of black skinny jeans from Old Navy that I have actually been really pleased with, as well as a pair from Express I really like. I do have a question…where did you get your jeans you are wearing with your sweatshirt? Those are the perfect distressing, I really like them!
Aww, thank you Lisa! The jeans are actually from NY&Co!
You look amazing Courtney – the black pants look fabulous on you. The dress – ah it’s ok and looks cute on you but it’s not worth the price. I agree on the booties and yes that sweatshirt is great.
Thanks so much, Karen!
Have you checked out Old Navy’s swing dresses? They have striped ones that look really similar to the one above, (like this one http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=91406&vid=1&pid=281334112) and they’re pretty good quality for how inexpensive they are (I have a couple myself). Just something else to consider if you like the dress but don’t want to spend $64 on it!
I hadn’t…but I am SO GLAD you posted that! I think I may have just made up my mind on the dress, haha, thank you Mollie!!
I was actually going to suggest Old Navy as well. I have several of their swing dresses in stripes and solids and I feel like I have a very similar one to this Stitch Fix one. I got them in the fall but maybe they still have some.
Keep the sweatshirt. The dress looks cute on you too. Try old navy rockstars for black jeans! Also they have striped swing dresses like that for much cheaper.
Keep the jeans and the dress! You look fab in both!
I think those pants look great, the “cut off” trend at the bottom is totally in right now but could be a bit outdated in a short while. Still I think it’s easy to hide with boots! Also love the dress, definitely should be a keeper!
The black jeans are cute! You should keep them :)
I think the pants are really cute on you. You could always take them to a tailor and have the hems finished. I also think the dress is very cute on you and would be so easy to wear. I recommend keeping both of them!
Love, love the sweatshirt!! What size is yours?
I’d return everything else. I have two swing dresses, from last year, from old navy. They are exactly like the one you got in your Fix..but tank top style!
I just ordered the black skinny jeans, Kut brand, from Nordstroms 😉
Mine is a medium! :)
Hi Courtney
Keep the swing knit dress, it would look great with leggings and a jean jacket. The black skinny jeans look great on you, but at $88.00 the hems should be finished. I would send them back
Keep them both! They look great on you!
Unfinished hems on jeans is a HUGE trend right now. Scissor cut, released hem, and frayed hems… they’re everywhere. I especially love seeing them accentuated by cuffing once (flip so the unfinished detail points upward), and then a little ankle peeks out which is perfect for booties and ankle strap heels.
I think the dress is super cute on you. Like you said, it has very versatile potential. Dress it up with heels and a statement necklace for a date night, or wear with white sneakers to master the no-frump athleisure trend.
Keep the dress and the sweatshirt. You already have the black jeans you love (even though you need a new pair) but that hem will annoy you. The booties are cute but I think you can find better and no on the shirt. Great fix though! 2/5 ain’t bad. I LOVE that sweatshirt. I live in it after getting it in my last fix.
Love the pants! They would look great with the booties. I snagged my first pair of bottles and cannot believe how much I wear them despite being on the fence at first.
And I’ll echo the other comments – you look amazing!
Gorl nah smoothie ew
No
I see what you mean about the pants….they look great on you, but my concern would be that they would fray more. I think the dress is adorable, and would look great with tights/leggings. I would say return the pants and keep the dress. (I am biased though, because I wear dresses pretty much every day of the week).
I would echo what someone said above about the black jeans: keep and have the bottoms hemmed if you’re worried about them fraying too much. If they fit so well, hopefully a few extra dollars to hem won’t hurt.
And with the dress, I was able to find one at Old Navy as well that had a tank top style top and fit a little bit better in the waist area.
And yes to that sweatshirt!! I could see myself lounging around all day in that. :-)
The jeans are super cute but that hem would drive me INSANE!
Those pants look amazing on you! That being said, the hem may drive me crazy. They would look so cute with booties. I think you could roll (a tiny roll) the pants a couple times and they would look super cute too! I say no on the dress, so cute but you could find it somewhere else. I need to do Stitchfix sometime!
I LOVE the dress and the sweatshirt!!! The jeans were ok until I factored in the hem and the price. They would be ok if not for the hem. Or ok with the hem without the price being an at-least-finished-hem amount. The blue/floral top was simply an instant NO!! The boots are cute as well, but I don’t typically buy sued since it rains frequently here.
So, the dress and sweatshirt were so cute! The dress caught my eye and I really need one like that! Boots are neutral and will go with many outfits. The top and the jeans don’t do anything for me and I even kind of winced when I saw the back of the shirt even though I had put it in the No Pile prior. It just got worse.
You got a GREAT FIX this month! I’m so glad to come across it and that you took the time to share. I’m on such a sad budget for the unforeseen future so I miss all of these subscription programs greatly. For now I will kind of vicariously live that part of the life through bloggers like you.
Hope to hear what you decided to keep and what you sent back!
Ahh I’m so jealous! My man said he subscribed me to stitch fix but it came in a brown box from staples that said stack fax. It had all my clothes that I already had in my closet. I got mad and he said I was a snob. Da heck? #littlethangs
Why you gotta call me out babeh? Damn
i have to vouch for the lucky bartalino booties. i have them in the whiskey brown color and am obsessed. So comfy!
I agree on the top you are returning. I love the two things that you are on the fence for! Those booties are ADORABLE! They would go great with a grey denim or dark denim. If you get them, make sure you have some spray to protect them from rain etc. :-)
Yes to the jeans and sweatshirt. I saw skip the dress!
I love the jeans, in my opinion, I am happy to spend some extra money on jeans that fit well (even if you have to hem them) They look great on you! Love the sweatshirt too! It looks like something I would live in.
I love my swing dresses for work and for going out for dinner. With tights and boots. BUT..agree with others that you can get similar for cheaper. I got mine at Old Navy and they are great quality.
That sweatshirt looks like the best thing ever! I’ve yet to jump on the stitch fix bandwagon but everything I see is so cute!! Also, loving your hair!
Love the pants and the booties! Good fitting jeans are too hard to come by to return them!
I think you have convinced me to finally bite the bullet and try Stitchfix!
You look fabulous in anything you put on! I would keep the pants-so hard to find a pant that fits so perfect! I would agree with some of the others about the dress since it looks like you can get something similar for less money.
I would have an issue with the unfinished pant hems. I am quite a bit older than you, but wear up to date, well styled well made clothes. I’ve also been sewing since I was 10, and just couldn’t wear those raw edged pants. They would go back. I just received my first Stitch Fix last week. 2 items were returned for fit issues, one for fabric weight, and one for workmanship quality. I refined my style quiz, an left a note for my stylist. I live in SW Florida, warm and humid most of the year with brutally hot summers. Like you I have no use for cold weather garb unless I’m going up north. We’ll see what next month brings. Good luck to you.
I would say the sweatshirt & booties are keepers! <3
I’ve really been itching to try Stitch Fix again but was sick of striking out. It just seemed like my stylist was never listening to me. That sweatshirt is EXACTLY the type of item I was looking for when I noted that I primarily stay home with two toddlers. Instead, the most casual piece I received was a white, satin-type blouse. Clearly, that stylist has never spent time with two toddlers.
Did you end up keeping the skinny jeans? I just got a pair in my Fix and I am also on the fence. How did they wash? Did they unravel or fade?
