As I just sit down to type up this post on Tuesday evening, I can’t help but smile when thinking about just putting Lucas to bed. I’m pretty sure I’ve already told you guys by now that my son is just not much of a cuddler. Since he was itty bitty, he’s just always been too interested and involved in his surroundings to care much about cuddling with his sweet mama. I’ve come to accept it, and tend to just soak up whatever random, tender moments I can get.
Well, tonight as I was putting him to bed and rocking with him singing our “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” he laid his head right on my shoulder, wrapped his arms right around me, and gave me the biggest, sweetest squeeze of a hug I think I’ve ever gotten from him. Mamas out there who get this on the regular? You are lucky gals. My heart just about melted into a puddle, and then I proceeded to play around with him too much to where we had quite the giggle fest happening…thus making him want no part of bed time. Oops.
So now, here I am, about 20 minutes later than I had planned (as I hear him banging his feet all around his crib right next door) with a big ol’ smile on my face. That boy sure does know the way to my heart. <3
But now, as for the rest of the post, I figured I’d jump in on the WIAW bandwagon again this week (but with my actual meals, not ones I wished I had). Thanks, as always, to Jenn for hosting! Now, a look at some of Monday’s eats…
Breakfast
A leftover blueberry streusel muffin (I made another batch for Easter and kept a few extras at home) + a vanilla Greek yogurt.
Didn’t even think to snap a photo of any of it, so I’ll just share the pic of all the muffins from last week in all of their glory and deliciousness. They seriously are the BEST.
Mid-Morning Snack
Banana with peanut butter. No surprise there!
Lunch
I’ve had it pretty easy this week with putting together some random leftovers together for lunches. This particular lunch was a mix of some leftover white chicken chili (which is really just like pulled chicken with beans and corn in it) plus some leftover roasted veggies.
Afternoon Snacks
Not long after that lunch, I had that Target trip and snacked on about 800 handfuls of kettle corn in the car…
Okay, maybe more like 8 or something, but still…
Then a little before it was time to leave work for the day, I snacked on a handful of trail mix.
Then once Lucas and I got home and I was going through his lunchbox, I noticed he had a little more than half of an iced oatmeal raisin Clif Z Bar (<—one of my favorites, EVER) left in his bag. It had been in there for 2 days and he hadn’t been interested in it…so it became mine.
And don’t let that picture fool you…he wasn’t asking for it. I verified that at least three times.
Dinner
Dinner was good, but nothing great. I made a batch of this Italian Pizza Bake with some green beans and carrots, which I knew I’d made a few years ago (seriously?!), but it wasn’t as good as I remembered.
I made the recipe almost as-is, but subbed seasoned ground turkey for the chicken, and I actually doubled the recipe. The flavor of the topping part was great, but the bottom tasted a little dry. Other than that, it was good though!
I should also add that dinner included two glasses of wine because, you know, having just one isn’t always easy.
Dessert
I’m wrapping up this post before I go snag some dessert, but I can almost guarantee that it’s going to include some of the massive amounts of Easter chocolate/candy we have floating around the house. I think some Butterfinger eggs may be calling my name.
Unfortunately though, it sounds like I also have a tiny human calling my name, too. Oh boy…

My oldest is the same way! Only snuggles when its on his own terms, but I agree, it totally makes it that much sweeter when he does! Our second son wants nothing but cuddles, so it all balances out!

I looove the sweet hugs! I have 2 year old b/g twins, and my son will ramdomly come up and give me a big hug like that! He’s definitely the snugglier one! My daughter will only do that when she gets hurt or wants mommy to herself, while she says, “mine!” ☺️

little snuggles are the best. My husband and dog don’t snuggle (yes I try to snuggle with my pup) but my six month old loves to when he’s sleepy. It’s simply the best.

Did you ever watch Grey’s Anatomy? Every time I hear tiny human I always think of Arizona haha.

What a sweetie! I absolutely love it when my son randomly puts his arms around me and his head on my shoulder. He is such a little sweetie pie and I love mama cuddles!

william has always been a horrible sleeper, but lately i try to stay in his room to help him go to sleep (i know that’s a no no but it seemed to be working) well last night he started throwing his toys out of his crib and cracking up as they fell to the ground. lol didn’t help bedtime but sure was cute!

Aww how sweet is Lucas! I love that he did that. Those moments are the ones you won’t forget! Surprisingly, I didn’t have a single piece of Easter candy this year! How does that happen!

Bedtime in our house has been a little rough lately. My two year-old, Bryn, has had a hard time settling down at night. She’s so cuddly so we’ll sit and sing songs and just lay together a little bit, but she gets upset when Mama leaves :(

those iced cinnamon raising clif z bars are seriously crack! i had a moment a couple of years ago where i was afraid i’d overdose on them and was eating them for every meal. so freaking good. this reminds me i should go stock up again — stat. Trader Joe’s has them for $.99 (or used to, at least), which meant i had to fill up a basket. yay for baby cuddles! :)

Little kid hugs are the best. I don’t have kids, but when I was thirteen, my cousin Laura was born, and when we were all camping that year (Memorial day. She was about nine months old), she was sitting in my lap, facing me, we were singing, or something, and all of a sudden, she just falls forward, face planting against me in what could be considered a hug for an infant. Then she sat up and did it again. That was the moment I knew she and I would have something special, and we do. She’s the best “little sister” a girl could ask for. <3
And Lucas TOTALLY looks like he wants that Clif bar. lol. Kids are funny!

Banana with PB is my LIFE. In fact I think I will have some now!

Aw, so sweet! I love how little boys just love their mamas. Hunter is actually a pretty cuddly little dude, but of course it’s always on HIS terms. ;)
I haven’t tried that particular Trader Joe’s trail mix before…sounds yummy!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Why does the Clif bar look so much cuter when sliced up and in a little tiny container? heheheh Good eats, Court!

I am drooling over those muffins and pizza bake! Adding both to my list of recipes to make!

Your sweet anecdotal story about Lucas made me smile and smile. Love it.
Those streusel muffins look delectable, and I just saved your recipe for when I am home for the summer and actually have access to a functioning kitchen!

Those streusel muffins look so good! I don’t think I’d be able to keep them in my house!
