Hi! Happy Tuesday! Did you all have a great weekend? We’re finally getting back to a bit more of a normal routine, now that the boys are back in school, and that’s always welcomed. Our weekend was great; I started off my Saturday with a sweaty workout at Anatomie, followed by Lucas’s soccer game.
We initially had plans with some friends that fell through in the evening, so Jay and I took advantage of the time and enjoyed a nice little date night out. We started out at a couple of furniture stores (and actually wound up FINALLY finding a new bedroom furniture set, which I am SO pumped about!), and ended the evening at Druthers.
We found two open seats at the bar so we grabbed those and ordered a beer flight while we waited for our table. But at no surprise to me, we ended up ditching the table and just enjoyed dinner at the bar. Jay and I split a burger and a cheesesteak, which were great, but the REAL star of the evening was this cake.
Apparently, they have a pastry chef who only makes one dessert a day, and we picked the best possible day because this was some sort of chocolate caramel Heath poke cake. And good god, it was the most amazing thing I’ve had in forever. Best way to end the evening!
Sunday included a quick, solo trip to Homegoods, where I actually found exactly what I was looking for. I want to hang a couple of faux plants like this in our bedroom, so now I just need to find a couple of cute, decorative wall hooks to hang them from.
I also had to stop into Shop Rite for a couple of grocery items, and while I was there, they had a woman offering samples of these new (to me) Itz Spritz alcohol spritzers. They intrigued me, so I tried one and was totally hooked. But the worst is when you buy a variety pack of something and wind up with a flavor you don’t love…soooo, I sampled all 3 flavors, just to be sure. ; )
And all 3 flavors were equally delicious. Well done, sample lady. Well. Done.
FYI: They’re DELICIOUS. Also gluten free and made with only 5 ingredients. Not quite as bubbly as a hard seltzer, and not quite the same after taste as many seltzers have. These also have more flavor, and are a bit sweeter, but they’re going to be perfect for the warmer weather (eventually) on the way!
Actually, the weather here was in the 50s on Sunday and yesterday, so a bunch of the neighborhood kids were out playing for the majority of the afternoon, which was awesome.
We originally had (more) plans to get together with friends, but a few of the kiddos in the crew wound up getting sick, so we had to reschedule (winter, you’re the worst).
Jay also got started on what is soon to be our new fireplace, and I cannot WAIT until it’s complete! Here’s a little before…
And, hopefully, I’ll have an “after” to share with you guys in the next couple of weeks! Ignore the mess… our living room has been a disaster for about a week straight and I’ve had zero desire to care.
Be on the lookout for (hopefully!) another post headed your way later this week – I’m working on a little review/recap of my experience doing a round of the Faster Way to Fat Loss!
Chat soon!! <3
That cake…. oh my lanta!!! I am anxious to read the recap on Fast Way to Fat Loss, I get those emails and have considered taking one of the certification courses they offer but can’t seem to justify the price yet. can’t wait to read that one. Have a great week!!
If you get a wild spark and decide to try to recreate that delicious sounding cake…….please share the recipe ;) :-P
This does look like a great weekend and I, too, am loving this uncharacteristic warmer weather!
First off, the cake….yum! And I love the hanging plants. I have to look for them.
