My First Maternity Stitch Fix + Giveaway

By Courtney 135 Comments

It’s always a fun day when a new Stitch Fix arrives at the door! And this month, it was a maternity Stitch Fix!

February Maternity Stitch Fix

Did you guys know Stitch Fix  has a maternity line (and a petite line, too!)?

In case you’re new to Stitch Fix and how it works, you can read all about it in my first post about the service, HERE.

After looking back on my last fix, almost exactly a month ago, it’s sort of crazy to see just how much the belly has grown in four short weeks. And hey, what do ya know…today officially marks 23 weeks along. Talk about things flying by!

At any rate, we’re not here to talk about my growing bump…we’re here to talk Stitch Fix! I wasn’t super detailed in the note to my stylist on what I was looking for, although I did say that I wouldn’t mind some maternity leggings, an open cardigan, and maybe some other tops that could transition well into postpartum. Some delivered, some did not…but here’s a look at my latest fix.

And FYI, you’ll notice my face is cropped out of all of this month’s photos. I was hoping the pink eye would be gone by the time I went to snap these pics, but no such luck.

Margerie Stripe & Dot Open Cardigan

I wasn’t super sure of the Margerie Stripe & Dot Open Cardigan from Market & Spruce ($68) upon taking it out of the box. While I loved the fit and the shape of it, I guess I just couldn’t get totally on board with the patterns.

Margerie Stripe & Dot Open Cardigan Stitch FixMargerie Stripe & Dot Open Cardigan Stitch Fix

Which is really odd, because I do love polka dots and I do love stripes. But I guess this one just wasn’t doing it for me.

But oh, hayyyyy there, growing bump. Does it not look HUGE right here?! Winking smile

This one wound up being a Return.

Tawny Open Drape Cardigan

I was immediately intrigued when I saw the pattern of the Tawny Open Drape Cardigan from RD Style ($78) peeking out behind the tissue paper in my box. It looked fun and, honestly, like nothing I really own.

Tawny Open Drape Cardigan Stitch FixTawny Open Drape Cardigan Stitch Fix

But again, it just wasn’t really doing anything for me. The material wasn’t super soft, and I think part of me is already in (wishful thinking) spring fever mode, so I’m trying not to invest in anything too heavy. I will say, however, that I do love the colors and the pattern of this sweater…maybe if it had been sent in, say, November?! This one was a Return.

Ailene Lace Sleeve Maternity Knit Top

The Ailene Lace Sleeve Maternity Knit Top from Madigan ($54) is something I had high hopes for. I loved the navy blue color, and I thought the lace sleeve detailing was beautiful. But upon putting it on, I just couldn’t do much to make it look flattering. I tried pairing it with a few different types of bottoms, and these leggings were the closest I could get it looking like something I’d want to wear.

Also paired with my Muk Luk boots – still can’t find the exact pair, but these are similar.

I still can’t quite pinpoint it, though. Maybe it was the length? Or just the way it flowed from the empire waist? Either way, I just couldn’t get it to work for me (which I was super bummed about because, for whatever reason, I really wanted to keep it!). But it was a Return.

Love the top?? similar (<—I have this in black and LOVE it!) // similar // similar // similar

Carlile Brushed Trapeze Maternity Knit Top

I can’t even begin to tell you how soft and amazing the material is on this Carlile Brushed Trapeze Maternity Knit Top from Madigan ($54). It’s like a soft, cozy fleece that feels like a little piece of heaven when you put it on. Okay, I know I’m being a little dramatic, but seriously. It’s SO cozy!

Carlile Brushed Trapeze Maternity Knit Top Stitch FixCarlile Brushed Trapeze Maternity Knit Top Stitch Fix

The thing is though, I still can’t totally decide if I like it enough to keep it. Obviously, I get that there is extra fabric to allow for a growing belly, but sometimes the way it hangs, it just feels like maybe it’s a little too flowy and big??

Carlile Brushed Trapeze Maternity Knit Top Stitch Fix

But the more I think about it…knowing that I’ll only get wear out of it for maybe another 4ish months (because I don’t think it would like right without a belly bump), I think I should probably pass on it. Even if it does feel like heaven. So…Return.

Porter Maternity Legging

Along with the top above, I’m also wearing the Porter Maternity Legging from Rune ($58). And out of all of the items that came in my first maternity fix, these are what I liked the most!

Carlile Brushed Trapeze Maternity Knit Top Stitch FixPorter Maternity Legging Stitch Fix

Honestly, do I really neeeeeed another pair of maternity leggings? That could be questionable (I currently own three). But, considering I’d be happy wearing leggings every. single. day., I feel like that in and of itself sort of justifies the purchase, right?

I wasn’t super sure at first, since I’m picky about waistbands that go over the belly on maternity pants, but these were pleasantly comfortable without digging in too much. For now, at least.

Porter Maternity Legging Stitch Fix

So out of all of the items that I was sent, these I decided to Keep!

I haven't tried stitch fix before - I've always wanted to but haven't yet. I think I would love it but telling them my style is what holds me back. I have NO IDEA what my style is. I wear scrubs all day at work and then comfy clothes when I get home.

I also got the Margererie Dot & Stripe this month, but didn't love it either. I thought I would but it seemed like the length was a little short for a cardigan, especially in the back.

Maybe the maternity box is kind of like starting over? They need to learn your maternity style? Oh well at least you got a pair of leggings!

Some of my very favorite maternity pants came from Stitch Fix! My daughter is almost a year old (HOW?!), and when I was just starting to grow out of all my regular clothes, I ordered a fix and said I was pregnant and needed tops with room to grow. This was before they formally had maternity clothes, so imagine my surprise when I got a couple of awesome maternity pieces! I got a dreamy pair of black leggings and a pair of gray skinny jeans with zippers at the ankles that I was soooo sad to retire postpartum. Ha! Next pregnancy!

I have seen several SF blog posts and love the whole idea of someone sending you thought-through clothes items after you complete a profile of yourself. I think you made a good choice in just keeping the leggings. Those seem as though they'll be used more than once...longevity...throughout your pregnancy. They are black, too, so they can match-up with several other tops.

I've been wanting to try it but their clothes seem to be pretty expensive (compared to what I normally buy, I'm a frugal sale shopper). This would be a perfect excuse to try it.

I've tried Stitch Fix twice since I've been pregnant (and several times before pregnancy). I've definitely had better success with my non-maternity Fixes. Most of the maternity clothes they have sent me are either a really specific color or pattern, that I didn't think I could mix and match as much as I'd like, or they were just too expensive for something I'd only wear a few months. That being said, I have kept one maternity top that was somewhere around $55, and I've worn it a million times and get tons of compliments on it -- so it was worth the splurge!

I love the leggings you are wearing with the lace knit maternity top. They go well with those booties! I received my first maternity stitch fix in the beginning of my pregnancy where I opted for a bunch of flowy tops. Now, for my next one coming in March i've requesting long cardigans and another pair of maternity jeans because I love them!

It's a bummer when the Fixes are flops! I chose to receive one Fix when I was about 25 weeks pregnant and it was the best I have ever received! I requested no maternity clothes but only ideas that would be transitional pieces. She was right on and never got a super cute tote! You are rocking a cute little bump!

I've never tried Stitch Fix before, but I'm really intrigued by the concept. I bought most of my maternity wardrobe online because I didn't feel like shopping in stores and now I'm kind of addicted to being able to try things on in the comfort of my own home.

I am hoping one day soon stich fix will be in my budget - as I HATE shopping and will often buy clothes - take them homes to try on and return the ones that don't work as opposed to trying them on in store. I think I would love it!

Hi Courtney! Congratulations on your pregnancy. :) I didn't realize that Stitch Fix had maternity and petite lines, and that's good to know for future reference! I'm actually expecting my 3rd fix today. So far, I love it. The "fix" part it accurate, because I feel like an addict who wants another fix as soon as I'm done with the one I just got! I don't always love everything in the box, but I've bought a couple of things from the last two boxes, and it's helping me try new styles and colors that I wouldn't pick out in a store. My only problem is that I'm so frugal when it comes to clothes, I've just never been able to bring myself to spend much. I shop sales and thrift stores. And even though I love the items I've bought from Stitch Fix so far, they're so much more than I'm used to spending and I'm almost afraid to wear them for fear of ruining them! lol
