Well, helloooo Monday. Good morning, everybody. How was your weekend? Do anything fun?
I don’t know about you, but I had nice, low-key but busy weekend, enjoyed lots of good food, and got in a couple great workouts, too. Here’s what ya may have missed:
20 Minute “Give It Your All” HIIT Workout
If nothing else, I’d definitely recommend checking out that 20 minute workout above; I’ve already gotten feedback from a few of you that it was super-intense but awesome. Just what I was hoping for!

Workout
Being Monday and all, that meant one thing: BodyCombat. But actually, today’s class was a little bit different. Ever since I’ve been going to Combat on Monday mornings, the class has been an “express” class, meaning:
- It was only 45 minutes, as opposed to the usual 55 minutes
- It omitted a power track and the conditioning track
A couple of weeks ago, a few of us were talking with our instructor, saying how we wish we had time to do the full class (there’s one immediately after). He said that he would be more than happy to start at 5:30am, rather than 5:45am, and do the full class…
Hey, at that hour of the morning, what’s an extra 15 minutes, right?
So we said sure, give us the full class! He got approval, and today was our first full BodyCombat class. The verdict? I loved it! Talk about a great way to spend 55 minutes!
According to the website, this is what you would experience from a typical class:
You literally work every part of your body, and the new-to-me conditioning track totally left my buns a-burnin’. Yowsahs!
**If there’s anyone local who thinks they may be interested in trying out a class, shoot me an email. I have some guest passes!
Breakfast
By the time I got home, showered, and got myself ready, I was more than ready for my morning coffee and something to eat.
You guys have definitely seen this one before.
I savored every last bite of my last piece of Pumpkin Banana Bread this morning, topped with some PB. I’m really tempted to make another loaf, but honestly, I think I’m already going to have enough food in the house this week.
To go along with my Pumpkin Banana Bread, I had some very special scrambled eggs. Did you already notice that they were smiling back at you?
So now, once again, hopefully you’re able to start your day with a smile.
I’ve got about 847 things I need to do today, but you guys are definitely going to want to check back this afternoon; I have an amazing giveaway for you all, which is going to be very similar to one you may have seen a few months ago…
Stay tuned!
Questions for the Morning:
What’s your ideal amount of time for a workout? 20 minutes? 60 minutes?
What was the best part of your weekend?
What’s one thing that has made you smile so far today?
Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
one hour start to finish. I am a nursing mom and I’m on a schedule!!
Lindsey says
45 minutes, but I usually do 60 minutes for my workouts.
The best part of my weekend was setting up our Christmas tree and decorating the house while listening to the Glee Christmas CD :)
Event though its Monday today I do not mind since tomorrow I am off work to volunteer at a local Christmas festival!
Courtney says
Christmas tree? Christmas CD? Already?!? Hahaha, I thought I was the early Christmas celebrator! ;)
Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health says
Boo I totally wish I lived near you because I would totally take you up on that class offer! It sounds awesome!! I generally do anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour for a workout! One thing that has made me smile today is my kitten…she is so freaking adorable and also slightly crazy haha :). Hope you have an awesome day Courtney!!
Courtney says
Thanks, Lindsay! You too :)
Khushboo says
That class sounds fab! My ideal workout time is 45-60 minutes: enough go feel like I’ve gotten a good sesh but not too long to take up too much of my day at all! Running my fastest 4 and 5 miles this morning made me smile- sub 9-minute miles baby! :)
Courtney says
WOOO HOOO! :)
Lindsay @ biking before bed says
I love your eggs:) so cute. I miss body combat. It was my favorite class when I belonged to Gold’s gym. I haven’t found any other kickboxing type class that really grabs me. I used to always work out for about 60 minutes. But now I switch it up depending on the intensity of my exercise.
Brandi says
Same as most I think….at least 45 minutes, but love the full hour. The best part of my weekend was running my longest distance EVER Friday after work. Now, it was only 6.5 miles, but that is HUGE for me. I was almost in shock that I was able to do it. “pain is fear leaving the body” was mumbled a few times. :) After I did it I was like…”hmm I bet I could add another 7 and make it a half???”
What’s made me smile?? Just being able to wake up and get out of bed…..something that only God allows…… and that makes me smile. :) Have an awesome day!!
Courtney says
Congrats on your longest distance! Only 6.5 miles? That’s just slightly more than my longest – certainly nothing to scoff at! :)
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
I like to workout for 45-60 minutes. It makes me feel accomplished and is usually the perfect amount of time for me to get everything in that I want to according to my workout schedule.
The best part of my weekend was getting to Arizona and see all my family! It’s so nice thinking we’ll be here the whole week.
My cup of coffee put a smile of my face this morning! It was the perfect brew. ;)
Jordan @ food, sweat, and beers says
My ideal workout time is basically however long the LesMills class of choice is for the day. Honestly, those workouts are absolutely my favorite way to spend an hour (I’ll add in 5 minutes for stretching) and they carefully toe the line between pushing me to my limits and making me wanna pass out.
The best part of MY weekend was battling in a Luchadoras ring to win my own mask. I’ve got the scars to prove it. And this morning, I got to snuggle a few extra minutes with my partner before he hit the open road again. Ah, those glorious minutes make the LDR all worth it.
Lena @Fit on the Rocks says
I definitely prefer an hour although a 20 minute HIIT workout is great when I’m in a rush. The best part of my weekend was having my friend visit from out of town. I can honestly say that your smiley face eggs always make me smile lol.
Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles says
A full class- that is awesome that the instructor said he would be willing to do that for all of you! :) Awesome! …..Reading things like this makes me wish I had a gym within an hour to at least be inspired by. Bummer. :(
Great workout stats that class has! I usually do 30-45 minutes. I do what I can, always wishing I could do more!
Alyssa @ Life of bLyss says
uh, sign me up for body combat class! gosh.. I wish my gym had one of those. :)
Kathryn says
I like my workouts to be 45-60 minutes, sometimes as long as 90, but I like to really mix it up. If I was taking a class, I could probably do 45-55 minutes, but I don’t think I could spend that whole time on one workout. I like to do 20-30 minutes per workout.
The best part of my weekend was all day yesterday. In the morning my hubby and I got some time to just cuddle in bed, having some “us” time. Then the kids came in and we all cuddled together. Then we had this big tickle fest and we all tickled each other and played around. Then family took our usual weekend walk across the street to Petco. While there we decided our next animal, once our rats pass on, is going to be a couple of birds. So we spent about 3 hours driving around to different pet shops, looking at birds, getting information, figuring out what breed was best for our family. It was a nice change from how we normally spend our weekends. And yesterday was so nice, it was great to get out of the house.
This morning, I was having problems getting out of bed (I wasn’t feeling good yesterday, so I slept pretty bad). When our son woke up, my husband sent him in to wake me up. Instead of jumping on me and yelling “wake up!” like he usually does (he’s 3), he instead laid down next to me and cuddled with me for about 10 minutes.
Melissa says
It’s sunny today, which always makes me smile! :) The best part of my weekend? That’s a toughie. Probably sister time with my little sis on Friday night. Can’t beat it!
Courtney says
Gotta love the sunshine! 8-)
Morgan @ Life After Bagels says
hahaha yeah what’s another 15 minutes if you’re up SOOOO early :P
Heather says
My gym does the express classes during the day and I hate it. I want the full workout and try to hit up the body combat classes that are so I can get a great workout in. I feel like an hour is definitely the ideal amount of time for a workout but when I do strength and cardio it usually takes 90 minutes.
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I had a tough time deciding between baking pumpkin and banana bread, but finally went with banana – I like that you made the best of both!
Chels R. says
I love the smiley eggs! Funny, I was just thinking about scrambled eggs (making some for dinner) yummy!
I gotta try the Body Combat! They have that class at my gym. I love 60 minute workouts, esp so early in the a.m. Feels good to get it all done! :)
Ashlee says
Do you have TimeWarner Cable? What channel do you use for your workouts?
I lost 4.4 lbs this week and I am now down 30 lbs since August. That made me smile today :)
Courtney says
Yup! I use channel 1074, and then you have to scroll over to find Exercise TV. It’s GREAT!
Congrats on your weight loss, too! That’s quite an accomplishment :)
Shannon says
1. 20 minutes; I’m very lazy. :(
2. The best part of the weekend was relaxing on Friday & Saturday before doing all but History homework that I have to do right after I finish reading the giveaway post on Sunday.
3. Your scrambled eggs made me smile! :)
