Last week, as we were in the midst of all of our packing, Jay turned to look at me and said, “Umm babe, can we get rid of some of your workout clothes?”
All I could really do is laugh because he’s right…my stash of workout gear has grown to quite a substantial number. But the way I see it is this…a girl can never have to much workout gear! I mean, when you have a pair of jeans, you can really keep wearing them over and over without washing until they get stained or really stinky (at least that’s what I do). But with workout gear, it’s (almost always) one wear and it goes to the wash. You’ve gotta have a good variety, right?
So imagine Jay’s reaction when I received this fun new package in the mail and informed him that, yes, it’s new workout clothes.
But how could he really be mad (not that he was “mad” before, but you get what I’m saying)…look at how stinkin’ adorable not only the packaging is, but the clothes, too!
I’ve gotta fill you guys in on this new line called CALIA, from the one and only Carrie Underwood (you can actually watch a little bit more about how Carrie came up with the line HERE). The main concept behind CALIA is Stay the Path, which is one that I can absolutely, 100% relate to. As Carrie says, the key to “staying the path” is finding and achieving the right balance. You don’t wake up one morning and say, hey, I’m going to run a marathon TODAY! Heck, if you’re me, you’re probably never going to say anything remotely close to that.
Instead, you might wake up and say, hey, I want to run a marathon. I’m going to find one, I’m going to come up with a training plan, and I’m going to stick with it. I’m going to Stay the Path. The same thing goes for any sort of fitness regimen, too. I’m sure many of us can relate to something like this…
Life gets busy, and maybe you haven’t worked out in a few days/weeks/months. Finally you decide you’re ready to jump back in, so you dive in head first and go balls to the wall…only to wake up the next day feeling as sore as ever where you can’t even do anything. It’s definitely no fun, and it’s also an easy way to set yourself up for failure. The concept behind Stay the Path and CALIA is to avoid just this…find that balance that is going to allow you to achieve the success you desire.
And I’ll tell ya…the past couple of weeks have really been a great test for myself to see how I, personally, am going to stay the path. For the past two week or so, my workouts have been pretty minimal (maybe 2x/week). With moving, packing, and both the physical and mental exhaustion that came with it, I just wasn’t motivated. And on top of that, I was also eating a ton of junk. Fast food, snacks on the go, you name it…it was just an overall yuck feeling.
But since we’ve moved in with our friends and have gotten settled, I’ve committed to getting back into a solid routine again. And now that things have quieted down, I’m hoping it’ll be much easier to do just that. Sure, things are different, but I am committed to sticking with it because I just feel all around better when I commit to good health. It’s time to get back into a regular eating routine, because that just got crazy during the moving phase. And I already showed you that our friends have a great little gym in their basement, so I plan on using that at least a few mornings a week and on weekends if/when I can.
So that’s how I plan to stay the path these next couple of months, and I think Carrie would be proud. Speaking of…let me get into a little more detail on the different pieces I received from her ADORABLE workout line.
Double Braided Twist Headband
I don’t always have the best luck when it comes to finding headbands that keep my hair in place, and are comfortable. So I was pleasantly surprised when this one delivered in both departments. Not to mention, it’s absolutely cute enough to pair with a casual outfit, right? I love the black with the gold intertwined throughout. So pretty!
Women’s Essential Printed Tight Fit Capris
I’ll admit, I’m not typically a patterned workout bottoms kinda gal. But I’ve been easing into them a bit more recently, and these have made the transition just that much easier. The pattern is just gorgeous (would that not look awesome as, like, a maxi dress for summer??), and I loved all of the little details – from the ruching at the hem, to the invisible zip pocket.
The wide waistband was also another plus, keeping everything nice and smoothly in place.
Women’s Inner Power Perforated Bra
I loved the design of this sports bra, especially the back, but it just didn’t fit me right. And that is entirely to blame on the fact that I just have a small chest – that’s all there is to it. Other than that, the fabric was extremely comfortable, and I really liked the hook-and-eye back closure, too.
Women’s Essential Tank Top
This tank was SUPER comfortable, and I’d love to own it in just about every color that they have. It could easily go from workout to just a casual, regular top, thanks to the super soft jersey fabric.
It’s got an extra long length, and just a touch of ruching in the back to give it a little something special.
Definitely a keeper!
So how about you guys? How do you intend to Stay the Path this summer? This year?
