March Stitch Fix Review

By Courtney 53 Comments

Last week, I received my March Stitch Fix, so you know I have to share it with you all!

In case you’re new to Stitch Fix and how it works, you can read all about it in my first post about the service, HERE.

March 2015 Stitch Fix

I actually still have my fix here at home and I need to decide what I’m doing on a few pieces before I wind up sending back my returns tomorrow. I’m sort of on the fence with a few items, so maybe you guys can help me decide?!

FUN2FUN Toronto Bicycle Print Split Neck Top – $48.00

FUN2FUN Toronto Bicycle Print Split Neck TopFUN2FUN Toronto Bicycle Print Split Neck Top

This is a top I’m totally on the fence about. I love the material, I love the fit, and I love how it’ll be perfect for spring into summer (it pairs great with a cardigan). However, I just don’t know if I can get on board with (or even pull off, for that matter) wearing a top with bicycles on it. Part of me feels like Lucas should be wearing it, not me. I really wish it was in a solid color, but even still, I’m on the fence. Maybe?

MARKET & SPRUCE Chaimbers Cowl Neck Knit Top – $48.00

MARKET & SPRUCE Chaimbers Cowl Neck Knit TopMARKET & SPRUCE Chaimbers Cowl Neck Knit Top

I had a feeling this one was going to be a no as soon as I sneaked a peek at what was coming this month online. Yeah, did you know you can get an idea by going to checkout? I know it totally spoils the surprise, but sometimes I can’t help myself. This shirt was actually sort of similar to the one they sent me back in November…I didn’t like it then, and I still don’t like it now. It just felt like it looked a little too sloppy on me, and I couldn’t get the cowl neck to look right. Return.

LE LIS Berkley Lace Back Knit Top – $44.00

LE LIS Berkley Lace Back Knit Top LE LIS Berkley Lace Back Knit Top

I really liked this top, and I thought the lace detailing on the back was pretty. However, I feel like having it in the black color really sort of hides a lot of the lace. I think if it were a lighter pastel or a cream color, that would really make the lace detailing stand out more. So while I do like this one, I just don’t think I like it enough to keep, especially since the price seemed a little steep, too. Return.

MARKET & SPRUCE Chaplin Hooded Anorak Cargo Jacket – $88.00

MARKET & SPRUCE Chaplin Hooded Anorak Cargo JacketMARKET & SPRUCE Chaplin Hooded Anorak Cargo Jacket

I like this jacket, a lot! It’s like nothing I own, and I feel like it would be a fun staple for the wardrobe this spring.

MARKET & SPRUCE Chaplin Hooded Anorak Cargo JacketMARKET & SPRUCE Chaplin Hooded Anorak Cargo Jacket

However, I just don’t think I can justify the cost on it, especially since I had just been looking at one recently that was pretty similar for about half the price. And I’ve also got my eye on this super cute rain jacket, too. I also know that I’d probably be too lazy to actually tie the string around the waist and it would just wind up looking too baggy. Maybe Return?

KUT FROM THE KLOTH Denna Skinny Jean – $78.00

KUT FROM THE KLOTH Denna Skinny JeanKUT FROM THE KLOTH Denna Skinny Jean

I liked these jeans, and the fit was pretty good, but they weren’t quite what I had requested (I wanted a darker wash, but with more of a distressed look like these). Plus, almost the exact same pair (just a different wash) is on sale at Nordstrom right now for half the price.

With spring/summer coming up (I think, right?) I feel like I’d get more wear out of a bit lighter wash, and I’m almost thinking I want to try a pair like these Slim Boyfriend Jeans. I don’t know what it is, but I just love the look of them and how you can dress them up or down.

Sorry, tangent there. But as for the jeans above? Return.

************

So, there’s a look at this month’s fix. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as good as my last couple of fixes (I’ll tell ya, I either love ‘em or feel just “meh” about ‘em) and leading into writing this post, I was actually still considering the jeans, but I guess I talked my way out of those. Whaddya know? But I’m still on the fence on the couple of pieces above, so let me know…what do you guys think? Keep any of them? Return them all and lose my styling fee? I’m torn!

*************

As a side note, I want to thank you all for the incredibly sweet comments and messages yesterday about my 2 Nana’s. She will be sorely missed, and it was a tough couple of days, but I really do appreciate all of your kindness. Xoxoxo

I love this bicycle top and it looks super cute on you. However, I feel that you could probably get that same top at H&M or Old Navy for $10-$15. Love, love the jacket! I’ve been looking for one just like that. Each one I have tried on though has been too big, too small, or just hit me funny. It would be great for fall too! It’s a staple piece. If the quality is good I would say splurge and go for it. =)

I am a fan of the bicycle top too, I vote to keep it. As for the Le Lis top, that's currently on Zulilly now for $19.99 if you like it enough to get it for half the Stix price?

i loveeee the bicycle print top! I had bought a dress that had birdcages on it because I loved the cut (but not sold on the print) and I got more compliments than ever! sometimes stepping out of comfort zone on the print is a good thing

love the bicycle top- it's whimsical. I also like the jacket but have seen so many versions around in a variety of colors and price points that I'd suggest doing some searching. I'm surprised there weren't any summer pieces.

Bike top is super cute! The cut is flattering on you too. I received that same anorak in my fix a couple months ago in blue and actually love it. Tons of pockets, lightweight for those in between days, and cute trim. I'd say go for it! Get that $20 worth :)

I can barely see the bicycles, they are very subtle. With a blazer or a caridgan, you would really keep the attention on the style of the skirt, not the pattern. The fit is wonderful!

I would send the bicycle top back only because it has bicycles on it. lol. It looks GREAT on you, though, but I wouldn't be able to get past the bicycles. But I say keep the olive green jacket. It is SO CUTE. I would not try Stitch Fix solely because of the price of the items. I think they are way overpriced. But I'm sure it's so fun and exciting getting that package every month and not having to spend your time looking for things!

Return the $88 jacket. Perhaps I'm biased because I live in the south, but I don't see a real need for a jacket like that in late March/April lol. I actually like the bicycle top. It is a tad weird that there are bikes on a top for an adult, but it is a cute top :)

I love the style of the bicycle top, but I agree that the print is kind of a bummer so I probably wouldn't keep it (unless you can find Lucas a bicycle shirt, too? ;) ) I love the cargo jacket, but if you've seen a similar one cheaper, I'd go for that one! Even if you lose the $20 styling fee, you'll save money by buying the similar jeans & jacket somewhere else :)

I like how the bicycle top fits you but it seems pretty expensive for something you don't seem too confident about wearing. I also like how the green jacket fits but its not a color I think of with spring. Seems a bit more of a fall color.

I really like military jackets, but to be totally honest, I think you could find a cuter one than this one that is maybe a little more fitted and probably cheaper too. Just my two cents. ;)

id say no to the bicycle top, solely because if you go into forever21.com and check out the love 21 section, there are plenty of really pretty flowy long blouses and sleeveless tops in solid colors and pretty non-bicycle prints. Oh and for MUCH cheaper too!

I think the "bicycle" top looks great on you!!!! And the quirky designs are a fantastic way to incorporate a little more edge into your style (in a subtle way). In one of my fixes, I received a bright orange blouse with navy blue tulip shapes all over. Totally random... but I always get compliments on how unique it is! Aside from my usual "solid color" wardrobe.

Hi Court! First of all, I wrote about my fixes today for the first time, because I just started the service last month. For yours: I LOVE the bicycle top and the green jacket and the jeans you have above, don't be scared about the bikes! I've found that some items are a little more expensive than what I would normally look for, but I do like the surprise of opening the fix when it arrives. Second of all, small world thing -- by scrolling through comments yesterday one of my good friends found out that I read your blog. And she's your cousin! Ashley B. was my good friend in Orlando, and was my husband's best friend in college. He was in her wedding, and she was an usherette in my wedding. How about that? She texted me and said it was so funny that I read your blog. She's the sweetest, and now that we've both moved far from Orlando, I haven't seen her in too long:( Have a good Tuesday!
