Hello, hello to all of you! I totally meant to (and tried to) check in with you all yesterday, but it just wasn’t in the cards after a longer than usual bedtime routine for a certain soon-to-be 4 month old. Ay yi yi.
So anyway…the good news is that Jay and I were able to enjoy a few hours out by ourselves on Saturday night. WOO HOO!
One of Jay’s cousins got married up in Lake George, which actually happened to be at the same location my friend Kathryn got married at about four years ago. So fun!
And not only was it great to be able to have a night out with the husband, but that also meant an evening with some of our favorite cousins. <3
I tried hard not to check in too often with my parents to see how the boys were doing, because I had a feeling I’d regret it if I did.
So instead, I enjoyed a few glasses of wine, danced it up on the dance floor, and had myself a great time. Everyone else was doing the same!
We came home to find out that Alex had given my parents a bit of a run for their money (he took a few hours to finally fall asleep…), but he did finally fall off to sleep a little after 9pm, so I guess it could have been worse, right? Grandparents are saints, I’ll tell ya!
On Sunday, I got up and out a little early to meet my wonderful friend Kanika for breakfast. This was amazing because a) I will forever and always love going out for breakfast, and b) I just love time with my Kanika.
I went with a pretty basic eggs + bacon + toast + potatoes, but then Kanika (who clearly knows the key to my heart) asked if I wanted to share a “breakfast dessert,” by ordering their apple cinnamon bread french toast. Ummmm…don’t have to ask me twice!
And clearly, it was good enough to forget to snap a photo before it was all gone. Whoops.
But seriously…breakfast dessert is basically the best thing ever.
After breakfast, I came home just in time to be able to nurse Alex (which meant no pumping…YAY!) and we all just hung out for most of the afternoon.
These two… <3 <3
In other news, I feel like my house is a total disaster. It hasn’t been dusted in ages, and I swear, I can’t tell you the last time I actually saw all of my kitchen counters.
We have clothes piling up everywhere that need to be put away because #toosmall.
Which means I’m also grabbing MORE bins from down in the basement to find clothes the next size up for our growing little Alex.
^^FYI, we haven’t given the Merlin Sleep Suit a try yet with Alex but we might. We bought it for Lucas and I think we only used it one night for like, 2 hours. Anyone else love this thing? I feel like everyone who has it swears by it!
I also feel like I have never ending piles of laundry to do these days, too.
But hey…at least I managed to get our mantle all decorated for Halloween, so I’ll call that winning.
So right now, I think I’m going to either fold some laundry, go through some Usborne Books stuff, or go grab a bowl of ice cream (I think we all know which one is happening…). And tomorrow (Tuesday) I’m excited to be joining Lucas on his first field trip through preschool!
I hope you guys are all having a great week so far!

So glad you were able to get out and enjoy yourselves at the wedding! I could sense the mom guilt all over though. ;) Don’t worry about the house…the kids will look back at the memories and not how tidy the house was. Your boys are so cute! I always enjoy your posts!

We loved the sleepsuit- I almost cried the first time we used it on our youngest and he slept four hours straight!

My baby boy is almost 5 months. I transitioned him from Miracle Blanket to MM Sleep Suit around 3 months and I swear it is magical. He loves it and sleeps 12 hours straight at night. I also used it with my 3 year old until she was 8 months. Good luck! Definitely took a few naps to become magical ;)

We just tried the sleep suit on our 5-month-old last night for the first time and she slept great for a good 4-hour stretch but then started to play with her hands/put her hands in her mouth/play with the pacifier. We had been using a swaddle before where her hands where hidden but she started to break out of that, hence the reason for the switch. Just wondering if you experienced the same and if they eventually stop doing that once the novelty wears off?
Terra says
He definitely plays more with his hands and binky. 98% of the time he still dozes off on his own. If it continues to be a huge issue you could give the love to dream swaddle a try. We use that when the suit is in the wash and it has arms up and zip off pieces to transition into. I would try and stick it out but if your little one isn’t easy to fall asleep on her own she might not quite be ready for hand access. My son got better about it. Good luck!

I was thinking we need to just stick with it and see what happens, but when you are sleep deprived you just want immediate success haha Thanks for the reply!

I love your Halloween flags on the fireplace. Where did you get them?

We never used the Merlin sleep suit, but we did use a Zippadee-zip for my son. We started around 6 months to help transition him out of sleeping in the rock n play and the swaddle. It was amazing and we ended up buying all the sizes as he got bigger – he wore it from 6 months until he was 18 months.
