With the first day of summer behind us, isn’t it sort of a bummer to think that every day now from here on out is going to get just a teensy bit shorter? Last night our friend Joey came over (we missed you, Kate!) and the three of us hung out by the pool until almost 9pm…and it was still light out! I can remember when I was out visiting in Michigan a few years ago and it didn’t get dark until almost 10pm, which I thought was just crazy. I’d never seen anything like that here in NY.
I just love my super long days of daylight.
Breakfast
While breakfast cooked up, I snacked on a little bit of granola that came yesterday from my friends at Love Grown Foods. I love getting my “love drops!”
Breakfast is nothing you haven’t seen this week…
Today I used up the very last of my rye bread, so perhaps I’ll be motivated to switch things up again by tomorrow? Ehh, who knows.
Then again, I could just switch up the pb + pb + banana combo and put it on some Kodiak Cakes, right?

I’m off to work in a few, then I’m headed to a doctor’s appointment, then hopefully fitting in some YOGA for the day. I was supposed to go attend a free class tonight at Good Karma Studio, but I had a softball game rescheduled for this evening so I have to cancel. Booo. I haven’t practiced yoga since Monday so I’m really looking forward to doin’ a little somethin’. Gotta make sure I get my 3 sessions in this week for the Yoga Challenge!
Gotta jet…but before I go, here’s a little teaser for what’s to come this afternoon…
They are ahhhhhhmazaing.
ummm those cupcakes look perfect. can’t wait for the recipe this afternoon!!
Mmm those look delicious! I haven’t done my 3 days of yoga this week either. I got in 25 mins earlier this week but so far that’s it! :-(
Looking at your iced coffee is making me wish our office had ice. Drinking hot coffee on a day like today after a 10 minute walk from my car is dreadful! I love summer and long nights but I like my cool New Hampshire summers, not Texas heat in the Northeast!
I live in Michigan – and we do have daylight until 10 PM! On the 4th of July, our fireworks usually don’t start until 10:15 or later. However, that means in the winter, it gets dark by 4:30. Boo. We’ll just focus on summer for now :)
I know what you mean about the longer days! I absolutely love the extra daylight. I’m living in Washington state for the summer, & coming from Utah, even though it’s just a little bit more north, I really appreciate the extra hour or two that we get up here. Makes a big difference in my mood, that’s for sure.
I’m with ya on the yoga. I just wish I had more time to squeeze everything in. In in ideal world, I’d practice yoga every day. In reality, I’m happy if I get it in once, & twice is a treat!
Oh my! Those cupcakes look delicious! I cannot wait to see the recipe! :)
A connoisseur baker like yourself might kill me for saying this but I LOVE the Betty Crocker strawberry cake mix- so delicious but I am betting on yours being even better which says a lot :)!
Lucky Love Blogger! ;) The cupcakes are adorable as usual!
Enjoying your post over some iced coffee myself :) I hope you don’t die of heat in your softball game tonight, it seems awfully hot for that… Can’t wait for the recipe!
Those looks delicious! I cannot wait for the recipe.
i always LOVE the long summer days too! growing up in Arizona, the latest it would stay light out is like 8ish. now that i live in utah, it stays light out until about 9:30 to 10 right now. it’s crazy to me! i love it though.
It is so sad that the days are getting shorter! Hopefully the rest of this summer will got really really slow so we don’t have to think about it!
Those cupcakes look so yummy!
And summer days are the best.. they make you just feel alive :)
Those cupcakes look amazing!! And I’m with ya – longer days in the summer are awesome!
I am SO impressed with that cupcake… and I bet it tastes even better than it looks! Can’t wait for the recipe!
It stays light here till about 9:45 right now so it makes it hard to wind down with so much daylight! …..Can’t wait for those cupcakes! They do look pretty awesome if I do say so myself!
I eat PB + banana on toast all the time for lunch (at work, no less). I feel like such a kid, but it’s delicious :)
Can’t wait for the recipe!
Oh, you and your teases ;) they look great!
I live for sunlight at 9PM… it’s the best!
Can’t wait for the cupcake recipe!
Can’t wait!!!! Those look amazing! Your cupcakes always look so awesome!
I agree. I love the first day of summer, but it always bums me out too to think that the days will keep getting shorter and shorter.
Those cupcakes look perfect–send one my way! :)
I am dying to ty Love Grown Granola, and I have yet to find it!! It’s making me crazy because I love Granoal and hear so many nice things about Love Grown!!
Ooooh I can’t wait for that recipe! I also love the long summer nights….I live in British Columbia and it stays light until close to 11 pm! It’s so lovely!
I wish I was skilled at decorating cupcakes, haha!
How fun to always receive packages filled with goodies in the mail!!
The cupcakes look extra yummy and SO pretty!! Cannot wait for you to share the recipe!!
I know what you mean – I live in Michigan, and last night when I was falling asleep around 10:15 (I know, I’m a grandma), it was still light out! It made me feel like an elementary school kid again, having to go to bed before it’s dark! :)
I live pretty far north in Edmonton, Alberta. It isn’t dark until around 1045 pm or so this time of year, and the sun is up around 5ish. Then in the shortest days of winter it’s the opposite, only about 7 hours of daylight. I couldn’t even imagine to know what it’s like to live in a place where there is little change in the length of daylight all year round like the equator! To be honest, I like when the sun is up around 7, and it’s lights out at 8.
I love the Love Grown Foods granola. I hope one day they send me a box. :)
