Well hey there, and happy Monday to you! Did you have a fabulous weekend?
Thankfully, our weekend turned out better than we had anticipated (Friday night was a ROUGH one for Lucas), but he woke up on Saturday with no fever and acting much more like himself. Although he’s still on the mend, it was a huge relief to at least have the fever gone.
So although he was still a little crabby (you should have seen what it took to get this picture), we still managed to have a great day for my birthday!
And, of course, we had to take the obligatory photo, which has since become a birthday tradition…
31st Birthday
Look at how much my little guy has grown?! And my hair, too, for that matter!
30th Birthday
Since Lucas was having a rough time on Friday (I had to leave work early to come home, poor guy), we knew we had to cancel our dinner plans with friends. I was super bummed about it, but such is life, right?! We can always reschedule, and kiddos (and their health) always come first.
We debated on ordering something for dinner, but then Jay offered to pick up some stuff on the way home and cook (which you’ve likely already read about if you read my meal plan post from yesterday…sorry!). So we had seared sirloin, homemade garlic mashed potatoes, and some veggies.
Dinner was delicious, but better yet? A surprise birthday cake!
And not just any cake…the most amaaaaazing Oreo cake, which was just incredible.
Definitely helped perk up the evening!
On Saturday morning, we not only awoke to a healthier, happier Lucas…but I also got a special birthday breakfast. Homemade pancakes and bacon, courtesy (once again) of Jay.
I told him that I’m totally handing over all kitchen duties to him…he has just been rockin’ it lately!
We had a low key day at home, still letting Lucas rest (even though he wouldn’t nap…), and then eventually met up with my family for an early birthday dinner at Jimmy Casey’s, which you guys have likely seen on here before.
Lucas was clearly too interested in the Andes mint in my hand than he was in looking at the camera.
We ordered some calamari to share for an appetizer (so good!).
And for my entrée, I opted for the Hazelnut Chicken which is always a favorite.
Between the calamari, bread, and salad, I was already feeling full by the time this came around, so I ate one piece of the chicken and boxed the rest. Which is a good thing, because shortly after we finished, I was surprised with…more birthday cake!
Lucas was rather excited to blow out the candle…and I only know that because it’s one of the few things that grabbed his attention besides the iPhone during dinner.
Just look at that cake…marbled, vanilla deliciousness.
Talk about feeling STUFFED after that meal. But in the best way possible!
**************
On Sunday, I requested a little “mommy only time,” so Jay stayed home with Lucas while I had a nice, quiet trip out. I stopped for an iced coffee at DD’s, then made my way to, where else, but Target.
I went for some grocery and house stuff, but quickly found myself meandering around the entire store. Including the clothes.
I cannot for the life of me find this exact sweater on their website, but this one is pretty similar, and while searching, I also found this one which I LOVE. And I liked it so much that I got it in both green and black. Don’t judge.
I also got a couple of long and lean tanks in a size up, since it’s way cheaper to shop that way, as opposed to heading into the maternity section. Many of the size large tops from Target lasted me through 40 weeks with Lucas!
I also wound up getting this cute shirt for Lucas.
Along with these cute pajamas for Lucas’s little brother.
After Target, I did some grocery shopping and came back feeling much more refreshed. Sometimes, we all need a little quiet time, right?!
After Lucas’s nap, we spent a little time outside, and it felt nice to be able to get some fresh air.
Oh, and I did a little work in the food prep department! Including a batch of my Cinnamon Sugar Crusted Banana Bread, after seeing that we had way too many ripe bananas that needed to be used up.
As well as a batch of my Best Ever Chicken Salad.
Plus a batch of Crockpot Steel Cut Oatmeal to have for breakfasts.
And there’s a long-winded recap of the birthday weekend! It was nothing fancy, but it was still nice and it was spent with loved ones. Plus, we’re hoping to have some fun plans on the agenda rescheduled for this coming Friday, which I’m really excited about.
How about you guys? Good weekend? Anything fun or exciting happening??
Jay for the win! What a sweet guy to make dinner. It looks like a great weekend despite some tough moments. And a little alone time with coffee at target always makes me feel better!
Happy birthday! I turn 32 today! Glad Lucas is feeling better and your hubby cooks!
Glad Lucas is feeling better! Both those cakes look great! William had a stomach bug on Saturday and I caught it Sunday oy
Happy Birthday!! And yay for some alone time at Target- I love those long tanks and am using those as my “maternity clothes” as well!
Well at least with a cancelled birthday dinner you now have another delicious meal to look forward to! Sounds like a great birthday weekend!
Happy Birthday! That cakes make me hungry:D
Happy Birthday! Looks like nice celebrations- can’t beat cake and clothes shopping at target (I seriously could just shop for everything there).
We had a house full of guests this weekend, which was fun! It was low key for me, but just the way I would have wanted it. Gearing up for my birthday weekend next weekend :) Glad you enjoyed yourself!
What a lovely birthday weekend! That Oreo cake sounds divine and it was so sweet of Jay to take of dinner and pancakes :) Have a wonderful Monday, Courtney!
Oh my goodness, that cake looks decadently heavenly. Happy Belated birthday! Your husband is awesome. <3
That looks like a cake from Zachary’s in East Greenbush :) My sister lives close to there and we’ve had a few really delicious cakes from there!
Haha, it sure was!!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday! Two cakes are always better than one. :)
I’ve such a craving for chicken salad…on the agenda tomorrow! Which cake was best?!
The Oreo was pretty amazing! ;)
Happy Belated Birthday! The cakes look amazing!
My favorite maternity jeans are from Old Navy and Target. I only have 4. I am a weirdo and really just do not like maternity jeans.
Happy birthday! Glad you had a great day!
The oreo cake & pancakes look so good!! I’m going to try the banana bread. I have too many bananas too.
Dunkin donuts and target?! Two of my favorite things (:
I love these lifestyle posts for sure! :) Happy belated birthday! Jay is such a sweet husband! All the desserts looked so awesome but the Oreo intrigued me! :) I’m such a sugar addict! Have a great week! :)
