Well hello there! How’s everyone doing? Did you have an awesome weekend? I just put Alex back down after his early morning snack session and since I found myself way more awake than I’d like to be, I figured I’d pop on here quick and say hello.
We had a really good weekend over here, although I’d be lying if I said we didn’t have some moments of “oh my god, how are we going to manage all of this?!” (aka, two kiddos crying/losing their minds at the same time, that sort of thing). But that’s to be expected, of course, so overall things are going well.
I spend a whole lot of time parked out on the couch nursing these days. I like to call this our cozy spot.
We’ve also been blessed with some wonderful gifts from friends (and even new neighbors!) for both the baby AND big brother Lucas.
We spent a few hours both Saturday and Sunday by the pool at my parents’ house, to enjoy the 90 degree temps, too.
Lucas was having a total blast swimming in the water (on Saturday – he wasn’t into it on Sunday), and he even started swimming around on his own without anyone holding him, which he eventually thought was just the coolest.
It’s a good thing daddy can get in the pool right now since mommy’s out of commission for a while!
That’s alright though; sitting poolside with my feet in the water is good enough for me right now.
“Cheeeeeeeeeese!”
Don’t worry, little man. You’ll enjoy the pool eventually!
For now, you just keep doin’ your thang.
We were treated to delicious dinners both days we were over, too, which was 100% A-okay by me.
On Sunday, we kept things fairly low key for Father’s Day, considering it was a bit of a tough holiday for Jay to be able to celebrate this year with the passing of his dad. We had my mother-in-law over for brunch, and had a nice spread of eggs, bacon, fruit salad, and my favorite cinnamon rolls (at Jay’s request, but I was more than happy to accommodate, since they’re basically my favorite thing EVER).
As for a gift, I already told you guys that my husband can be rather difficult to shop for, but I think he made out alright! My mother-in-law and I both went in on a nail gun + compressor something or other that he had mentioned wanting, and then I also put together this little “porch time” basket. Because, really, you can’t go wrong with chocolate and booze, right?
My original plan was to put the kiddos’ handprints on there with some paint but, well, I ran out of time. Maybe I’ll get to it eventually?
Before signing off for today, I just need to give a big ol’ shout out to this amazing guy right here. I cannot even BEGIN to tell you how wonderful and amazing he’s been since Alex arrived home (and before, of course, but even more so lately).
I honestly don’t know how I’m going to manage both of them when he’s back to work later this week. I’m sure we’ll find our routine and our new normal, but having him here has just been incredible, and I’m pretty sure he’s ran more laps around our house and chased more soccer balls this week alone than he has in years, thanks to our active little Lucas.
Alright my friends, I’m off for today! Have yourselves a marvelous Monday, mmmkay?!

It looks like your settling right in with your little family. I can’t imagine the change, but what a blessing to have two sweet boys and an amazing husband and family.

Your little family is just the cutest!! Looks like you are doing great, and Alex seems to be doing well! That face of his is just too cute! I am anxious to see how life with 2 kids is like after your hubby goes back to work. My hubby went back to work after a week when our 20 month old daughter was born and it wasn’t as bad as I originally thought. This time around (baby boy due at the end of August), he will get 2 weeks off. But honestly, I think that is the part I am most nervous about- having 2 kiddos and having him go back to work so early. I wish you luck, and I can’t wait to see how it goes. People keep telling me it all becomes part of your new normal just like it did when the first one was born, so I am sure it will be fine. I am also wondering how nursing around the clock will go once your hubby goes back to work. I didn’t have great success with breastfeeding our daughter (started her on formula at 4 days old), but I really want to try and succeed this time if possible. It just seems so time consuming and with already having a toddler, it all just seems so daunting. So please….any advice or words of wisdom or anything please send my way :)

You are amazing! How incredible that you are already managing to get yourselves out of the house, hosting brunch (and baking cinnamon rolls!), and celebrating Father’s Day for Jay. And you look gorgeous to boot! I hope the transition continues to be a smooth one. Your family is so sweet, and I’m so happy everyone is happy and healthy! XOXOXO

Those cinnamon rolls have been on my to-make list FORever. Must try! You guys look like you’re doing the best you can. I can only imagine how scared you’ll be to not have Jay around. I legit cried for an hour the day my husband went back to work after about a week and a half of us all at home (and with only one baby!). You will do great, mama!

Oh gosh, Alex’s cheeks are just too sweet! Being left alone for a FULL day with two babies is super scary, huh? J can’t even imagine if one of mine had been mobile at the time! But you’ll get the hang of it, you really will. Perhaps Lucas might even become mommy’s little helper! Best of luck to you!
