I just realized that I totally never shared this post about DIY Cleaning Wipes with you, which I meant to do weeks ago! I blame it on mom brain.
BUT, let’s talk for a second about these wipes.
I had no idea what to expect before making them…would they work? Would they be a waste of time? Well, I am happy to report that they. are. awesome.
For these, I used my new favorite Thieves Cleaner. This stuff, you guys. It’s such a gem, and talk about versatile. SO many uses!! Not only that, but a little goes a loooong way. I currently use it in my All-Purpose Cleaner and am also planning on making a glass/mirrors cleaner soon, as well as a fruit/veggie spray once my current one is finished up, too. Like I said…versatile!
So for the DIY Cleaning Wipes, super simple.
First, I cut a roll of paper towels in half (I’ve read people swearing by using Viva, but we had Up & Up brand from Target and they’ve been just fine). Next, I made the cleaning solution:
- 2 cups of water
- 2 capfuls of Thieves Cleaner
- 3 drops of Lemon Essential Oil (optional).
Once mixed, put a little bit in the bottom of a plastic container (the one seen here is one I found from HomeGoods a few years ago, but this container and this container are the same thing). I highly recommend the easy suction top!
Next, add the half roll of paper towels and pour the rest of the cleaning solution over the top. Turn the container upside down to ensure everything gets coated, pull out the cardboard center, then start using them by pulling from the innermost paper towel.
Super easy, and done in about 5 minutes!
I keep them right on my counter top, along with my other cleaners that I use daily.

As a fellow mom with germy and often sick little ones, how do you know thieves is truely a good all purpose cleaner? Is there anything you won’t use it for? Ie after cooking, during sickness etc? Thanks.
Courtney says
Hey Ashley! I use Thieves for everything, especially when the kiddos are sick!! There are so many uses for it, and there are a number of studies that have shown how effective it is at killing bacteria, surface germs, viruses, and more. I swear, the more I use it, the more I love it. I also love seeing it in action, too! Here are a few fun experiments I’ve come across:

how does it smell? I’m wary of some of the oils…I don’t want my house smelling like a hippie commune ;)
Courtney says
Hahaha you sound like my husband!! It’s got somewhat of a cloves scent I’d say…personally, I don’t find it “hippie-ish” (and I know what you mean!) ;)

What areas of the home can the Thieves Wipes be used? I usually use Clorox or Lysol wipes on our granite counters and was wondering if this could be used in its place for granite. I want to switch and ditch.
Courtney says
I’ve used them on everything, including my granite counters!
