1. I have SO much to do in the next 24 hours, it isn’t even funny.
2. Actually, it is sort of funny. No need for me to get all dramatic on you like that, I suppose. We’re getting ready for VACATION (YAY!) and I have ZERO packed (OH CRAP). This is the extent of my “packing” as of Thursday night, and we leave Saturday…
AKA, everything I recently purchased at Target for our trip is just sitting on our kitchen floor in the same bags since I know they’ll eventually need to be packed up anyway.
3. FYI: Notice the crumbs all over my kitchen floor. I’m fairly certain I will never, ever have clean floors for more than 10 minutes again. Ever.
4. What is it about fresh flowers in the house that just makes things seem so much brighter and happier??
Then again, maybe it’s just because they distract from the mess that is usually all over the floor? ; )
5. As I’m typing up this post (on Thursday evening) I’ve been hearing bits and pieces of a show that I believe is called Love Connection on Fox? Oh my god, it is awful…
6. Okay, so how many of you broke the bank this week with Amazon’s Prime Day?? I actually got myself one fun purchase that I’m pretty excited about…
I feel like I’ve been hearing SO MANY good things about these Instant Pots, so I had to give it a shot to see what all the fuss is about. Do you have one? Is it a must-have? What do you make in it? Tell me, tell me! I need ideas for when we get back from vacay!
7. I also finally ordered some new prints from Alex’s 1st birthday photo session; Mpix was having 50% off 8×10 prints earlier this week so I had to take advantage and stock up.
8. Man, I am obsessed with those kiddos up there ^^^ <3
9. So I think (if I’m being honest with myself) that I’ve come to the realization that greek yogurt and I really just don’t get along that well. I absolutely LOVE greek yogurt, but it seems that when I eat it, my gut doesn’t always feel the same way. Yet, I still eat it. At what point do you say “enough is enough” and call it quits?? I don’t think I can just yet…
10. Can I just take a quick minute to say thank you to you guys for your sweet comments from Wednesday’s post? I definitely did not foresee that coming, and once again, you guys just continue to blow me away with your love and support. You rock! Here’s to more rambling blog posts in the future!
11. I totally meant to make a batch of BBQ Pulled Chicken, Triple Lemon Blueberry Muffins, and my favorite cookie bars to bring with us on vacation and…guess who hasn’t made ANY of them yet? Yep…that’d be me. Here’s hoping I can get my act together tonight!
12. So all this talk about vacation and you’re probably like, woah hold the phone…where are you going?! Wellll, we’re headed to my family’s favorite vacation spot, Wildwood, NJ! We weren’t able to go last year since we had the whole new baby thing going on, so it’s been about two years since we’ve hit the beach now…
Needless to say, I’m excited! And I’m also thankful that my parents, brother, and his girlfriend will also be there because I can’t imagine what it will be like bringing both of the boys on vacation. I thought it was hard enough with just one before?! GAH. I know we’ll definitely be hitting up our favorite ice cream spot, and I’m hoping we can also make it to the incredible Mexican restaurant we visited the last time we were there…but if anyone has any other recommendations, I’m all ears!!
I’m going to try to check in at least once while we’re away, but I’m sure I’ll also be posting on Instagram, so be sure to follow along!
I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead, whatever you may be doing! <3
Eat at Two Mile Island located on the Causeway between Wildwood Crest and Cape May. There are two restaurants at this location so be sure to go to the one on the right. It’s loud so the kids blend in, there’s a band for kid dancing, picnic tables, great seafood, and the kids’ meals are served on a frisbee, come with an ice cream sandwich, and a token. The token is for after dinner when they’re allowed to head into the fancy restaurant’s gift shop to pick from the treasure chest!
Oooo, awesome! Thanks Kati!!
I distinctly remember the ice cream from your vacations because it looks so darn good! Have a wonderful trip!
Packing is quite honestly the worst thing ever. I don’t think there’s anything that could make it okay, but I procrastinate it every time!
We were just in Wildwood last month for the first time! I can’t wait to go back next year!! My son LOVED the ocean!!! We hit up the DooWop Coffee shop for breakfast one morning. The cinnamon roll pancakes were delicious!! Also, Brittons Bakery was AMAZING! Get there early though- they sell out QUICK!
In all my years of going, I don’t think we’ve ever gone out to breakfast besides the restaurant that was attached to the hotel we always went to! I’ll have to keep them in mind…I love a good bakery ;) Thanks, Amanda!
I am sitting here at work and all i can think about it all the stuff I could be doing at home to get ready to leave for vacation tomorrow morning!!! ugggghhhh!!!! I hate packing… and packing for two kids, i feel like i need a U-Haul! Have so much fun on your well deserved trip. Once you get there it will be smooth sailing… that’s what i keep telling myself at least ;) Also, i look forward to seeing what you think of the instant pot, i have been eyeing them but failed to purchase one on Prime Day. :(
Hahaha, yes you have a great time, too! Fingers crossed all goes smoothly with the kiddos ;)
I agree — fresh flowers make such a difference!
Have a wonderful vacation!
Packing is the worst. I usually put it off until the day before even though I tell myself to start packing asap. I hope to be all packed by Tuesday since we are leaving for our vacation on Wednesday, but we shall see…I am such a procrastinator! I hope you guys have a fabulous vacation! Xoxo
We have an Instant Pot and love it! I was a bit intimidated at first but once you try it you will fall in love! Join the Instant Pot Community on Facebook. They have tons of ideas and people post questions and answers that are really helpful. I look forward to seeing what you make in it. We love to do soups, stew & pasta!
Ooooo, thanks Laura, will do!
Have a great trip!!
Just got back from Wildwood this past Wednesday. Bandanas is alway’s amazing, but we tried the Wild Burrito this time on Ocean Ave. It was delicious as well! Definitely worth a try. Do you take Lucas on the boardwalk rides/water park? My son is turning 4 this month and we always do the little kiddie rides. I’m thinking about trying out the Raging Waters water park on Morey’s Pier when we go back in August. Just wondering if you’ve had any experience there with kids? I went before I had kids and loved it!
Awesome, thanks for the feedback!! We brought Lucas to some of the rides last time we were there (2 years ago) and he enjoyed some of them for sure, but we didn’t attempt the water park. Not sure if we’ll do that yet or not, but we were going to check out the aquarium that’s right on the boardwalk near one of the piers!
Good old Wildwood! We use to vacation there every year also or my sister and I would take day trips with the kids. Then I moved two years ago a few states away. Miss the beach! Have fun!!!
I’ve been going to Wildwood since I was a kid! My favorite is Ravioli House in the Crest. Good old school Italian and perfect for kids! That and Uncle Bill’s for breakfast!
I made only one purchase on Prime Day (because I was on vacation I didn’t really do much browsing) and it was the Instant Pot! Came today – maybe tomorrow I will get the energy to actually open the box!
I have the same issue with greek yogurt, sadly. If you find other easy, inexpensive substitutes I’d love to hear them! I’m having trouble finding high protein, easily portable snacks.
I also have trouble with Greek yogurt if I eat it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. If I eat a piece of toast first, it doesn’t bother me.
Love MPix! Their prints are the best quality. If I’m not ordering from shutterfly, MPix is always next on my list!
hey, my friends and total family (local to you and I) are there this week – have a great time !
I love wiltwood!
Were in Wildwood every weekend all summer long! Some of our favorite places are Duffers (amazing ice cream, plus they have a cute arcade and mini-golf. If you go definitely go during the week and expect to wait a bit, although you can either sit down and get served one of their HUGE ice cream sundaes or go through the ice cream shop, I’m not a big fan of their regular food but the ice cream is worth trying) Dogtooth Bar and Grill (we were just there Saturday for at least the 4th time already this summer, had the seafood carbonara, it was great!) across the street and same owners is a great BYOB place called Poppis. Little Italy has a can’t be beat early bird special and Alfe’s has some of the best Italian on the island! Sam’s Pizza Palace is the best pizza (in my families opinion) on the Boardwalk, and it goes great with Curley’s fries from across the boards. Went to Brunch at Keenan’s in North Wildwood this past Sunday….they added a pop up restaurant this year called Green Eggs Cafe, open 8-2, serving breakfast & lunch and this is a MUST! I got “The Kitchen Sink” and my husband had salted caramel banana french toast…….AMAZING!!!!! The Wharf (inside not the deck) was really good this year. Another must, at least for you and Jay, is to check out The Surfing Pig at 10th and the Bay for the best view of the sunset with delicious drinks to enjoy while you watch. Enjoy your vacation!!!!
I bought the Instant Pot too, and am so stoked to try it. Hope it lives up to expectations!
Funny story- the baby on the size 4 Pampers is my boyfriends nephew. Every time I see him I grin from ear to ear- he’s a mini of my boyfriend and it makes me giggle. He’s almost 10 now, and Pampers has been using his perfect little face for years. I hope they continue to do so for years to come. It always brightens my day to see him out and about :-)
I hope you’re having a FANTASTIC vacation!
