As I was going through my closet at the beginning of this summer, I was quickly reminded of the mass clean-out that I did over the winter. I’ve long had a bad habit of holding on to things just because I “think” I’ll wind up wearing them at some point down the line. Or because they hold some sort of special meaning to me. Or…for no good reason at all.
So now that I’m getting better at getting rid of the things I truly don’t need (YAY), that also means that I’m in need of some new, updated items to take their place.
The thing is, though…I don’t want to be spending a ton of money on clothes these days. Sure, there was a time where I could spend endless hours at the mall, spending my entire paycheck at Express, Banana Republic, or wherever else was the store of choice at that time. But now there are things like diapers, and groceries, and home upkeep…you know, all of those fun adult things.
So now, I tend to shop at a couple of select stores, and I also love shopping online at thredUP.
I’ve blogged about thredUP in the past, and they are a service that I truly do enjoy. In case you haven’t heard of them (or have, but don’t totally know what the deal is), thredUP is the largest online thrift store, reselling clothing from more than 35,000 brands for up to 90% off the original retail value. They’re reinventing the secondhand clothing industry and inspiring a new generation of consumers to think secondhand first!
Not wanting to spend a ton of money, I decided to browse around on thredUP to see if I could come up with a few new outfits for the summer, but under one condition…the outfits had to come out to be $50 or LESS. So I went ahead and picked out a number of different pieces I thought (and hoped!) would work out.
Check out those savings!!!!
Some of the items, unfortunately, just didn’t fit the way I had hoped (still working on finding a romper that I love!). But thankfully, thredUP offers super easy returns so it was really as simple as printing out a return shipping label and sending back what didn’t work. Easy peasy.
BUT, there were definitely a few items that arrived that I loved AND was able to put together a look (or, rather, three of them!), all under $50!
So here’s a peek at what I found and put together…
Outfit #1 – Casual/Weekend/Work from Home
Top: Victoria’s Secret………………………………$8.99 (normally $30.00)
Jeans: Gap………………………………………….$17.99 (normally $70.00)
Sandals: Steve Madden…………………………….$15.99 (normally $54.00)
Outfit Total: $42.97

As you can see, I was able to use the same pair of sandals in each of my outfits and I am obsessed with them. They were barely used and basically brand new! In fact, all of the items that I received were basically like-new, and thredUP always triple inspects each item by hand to ensure all the clothes are the highest quality and suitable for resale (many are even brand new with tags!).
Try thredUP for a steal!
