It always feels so good to declutter and just clear out everything that is no longer needed, doesn’t it? After doing it last week with most of my dresser drawers, my next step was to tackle my completely disorganized closet…
Side note: building/purchasing a closet organization system is definitely something on our todo list…
It’s still a bit of a work in progress, but we’re making some headway. And, of course, when you begin to clear out all of the stuff that you no longer need/wear, it’s always nice to be able to fill in some of the empty space with something new…or something like-new!
You guys have heard of thredUP before, right? They’re a huge online store that buys and sells high-quality secondhand fashion for women and kids. And actually, if you’ve been reading for a while, then you might remember that I’ve used thredUP to both sell some of my clothing and also buy some, too (like when I accidentally bought girls jeans for Lucas!).
The service is super fun and convenient, but my favorite part is the fact that you can easily get top name brands and designers at discounts upwards of like, 90% off. And most it is basically like-new (some even still have tags) and they add thousands of new items daily, so there’s always something new to check out!
I have to tell you…I am so ridiculously excited over one of the items I ordered. Like, SO EXCITED.
Back in the day (i.e., before kids), I used to be sort of obsessed with designer denim. I had a pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans and a pair of Hudson jeans that I was absolutely in LOVE with. You can actually see them in this super old post(!) but I wound up having to give them away years ago since they no longer fit.
While I’ve been eyeballing different pairs here and there for years now, I’ve still found myself holding back on the larger price tags. So here’s the great thing about shopping on thredUP…I was able to find a ton of designer denim, all for ridiculous prices and just like-new, and was super pumped to see a pair of Hudson jeans in my size that retail for $167, on sale for only $33.99. I saved $133…that’s practically a weekly grocery bill for us!!
It’s super easy to search by your favorite brands on the site (i.e., Hudson, Lululemon, Gap, J.Crew, Express, Forever 21, H&M, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Anthropologie…) and filter by size, color, price and style to easily find what you’re looking for.
But of course, the real test after purchasing was to see if they fit well…and sure enough, I. Am. Obsessed.
They fit absolutely perfect (even the length, which is hard for me since I usually need to buy tall lengths) and they’re just great. I’m in love.
I also picked out a few tops to try out for myself, too. The first was this burgundy Max Studio cardigan (retails for $98 – I got for $23.99!), which was super cozy.
I also got a simple t-shirt from Gap, along with another sweater from Lou & Grey (retails for $71.00 – I got for $18.99!).
One last item for myself that I was really excited about was this Romeo & Juliet Couture coat (retails for $250 and I purchased for $51.99).
Unfortunately, it just didn’t’ work for me. The collar wound up being way too big and the sleeves were too short.
Thankfully, thredUP has an easy return policy – you have 14 days to return anything you don’t like! You can go right into your account, complete the online return form, and print a pre-paid shipping label to send it back for a refund of either store credit or original payment. Easy peasy!
OH yeah…and remember how I mentioned thredUP has stuff for kids, too?
They always have such a great selection, and it’s such an awesome way to keep up with your forever-growing little ones (are yours anything like mine and wear things like, three times before it’s suddenly too small???). All of the stuff is like-new, and I even scored a brand new (with tags!) pair of Gap jeans for Lucas for only $21.99.
Along with these Nike sneakers…how adorable are they?!
Shopping secondhand clothing with thredUP totally gives me a major sense of accomplishment because I feel like I’ve gotten such a great deal. And when you look at it, I really DID…check out those savings!!
SCORE!
And remember…you can sell to thredUP, too! Just order a Clean Out Kit, fill it with items you no longer want, and place on your front door for pick-up. You can even check out their website beforehand to see what they do/don’t take and what the payout will be!
Try thredUP for a STEAL!!
