Having the chance to get out for a little date night is always fun on its own, but it’s even more fun when you run into good friends by surprise at the bar!
Jay and I were out to celebrate his new job (!!) and as soon as we walked in, we spotted our friends Erica and Steve at the bar. So we made our way on over and snagged a couple of seats next to them and caught up for a bit over a drink.
Once they left, Jay and I grabbed our table and went on to enjoy the most delicious meal! We went to Tala, which we’ve been to a few times, but I think this meal tops the list. We started out with their Surf & Turf Tempura Roll, which was to die for…
Then I had an incredible salmon dish (which I neglected to take a picture of), followed up with a sweet and salty, warm chocolate chip cookie.
That thing was definitely a decent size, and probably meant more for, like, four people to share. But we polished it off no problem. The thing didn’t have a chance.
On Sunday, I enjoyed the afternoon out shopping with my mom, but not before heading over to one of our neighbors’ houses for Gemma’s 2nd birthday party!
The kids all ran around like crazy, and the adults enjoyed plenty of delicious brunch food and, of course, mimosas. Because what’s a 2 year old birthday party without some mimosas?
I also finally got the chance to wear this super fun Christmas t-shirt that I ordered a couple of weeks ago from Jane. Unfortunately, I can’t find the exact shirt on there, but here’s a bunch of other Christmas/Holiday tees!
Oh, and speaking of tees/tops/fashion…I have a couple of new cozy tops that I MUST share with you.
Amazon strikes again! I don’t know about you all, but I almost always find myself searching for a top, and then quickly spiraling down the black hole that is Amazon fashion. If you’ve got the time to look (and read reviews), there is SO much on there, for a decent price, too.
I bought this top in black and purple red, and I love them both equally. The black one is a little easier for me to “dress up” and wear to work, whereas the purple red one is a bit more ‘slouchy’ looking and perfect for pairing with some cozy leggings and a bralette.
As for sizing, I ordered them both in a medium and I’d say they were the best fit for me; I think the sleeves would be too short on a small, and it would be too sloppy in a large. They also look super cute off the shoulder, if that’s a look you like to go for.
The material is nice, comfortable, and they also washed really well without getting super wrinkly.
Because there is nothing worse than just wanting to throw on your cozy tops, only to realize they need to be ironed because they’re so wrinkled!
I have been looking for a good 1/4 zip sweatshirt or fleece since this summer. And even though this one still isn’t 100% what I’m looking for (I still want one that’s more like a sweatshirt with a perfectly-cozy-without-looking-sloppy-feel…easier said than done!), this one is AWESOME. Thank you, Tal, for always being on the lookout for me and telling me about this one.
As for sizing, I ordered two – a medium and a large – and I actually like the large better. It’s definitely a lot bigger and roomier, and is borderline too big, but the medium was just a bit more of a fitted feel and look, which is not what I’m going for with a cozy pullover.
It’s super warm and soft, has cute thumbholes, and honestly, you cannot beat the price! I bought them for $11 each, but I’ve seen them on sale lately for as low as $8.49 (!!).
