Happy Tuesday to YOU! Hope you all had a great weekend and your week is off to an awesome start so far.
I’ve got a random mix of stuff to share today, along with some pictures of our latest mini project down below!
Jay surprised me with the most beautiful tulips on Saturday afternoon, after being out for the morning helping out our cousins with some house projects.
I don’t know what it is about tulips in the spring time but they’re just my favorite. So bright and cheery!
Not quite as bright and cheery looking, but Cody is still a pretty cool little dude.
He’s still hangin’ around over here, healthy as ever, and taking all of the baby and toddler “play time” in stride. Poor guy gets chased around the house daily, but hey, it’s good exercise for him, right?
After a couple weeks of fighting it/trying to avoid it, I’ve finally removed all of the wine bottles from our cabinet in the kitchen, since a certain little someone likes to make a beeline for them any time they’re there.
One of these days my house be back to normal!
For someone who usually gets awfully crabby after being holed up in any one space for too long, Alex has proven to be quite a good little shopping partner the past two times I’ve gone out.
He helped me grab some groceries yesterday, since I never made it to the store over the weekend.
I actually forgot to grab another bag of Heath bits, since they’ve been used in just about every batch of cookies I’ve been making lately (aka, they’re my favorite cookie mix-ins ever, in case you hadn’t noticed!). I made another batch over the weekend when our cousins Mike and Denise came over for dinner and to visit for a while.
FYI: I’ve also been using this recipe for them lately, but I substitute 1/2 cup of Heath bits for the peanut butter candies. SO GOOD…DO IT.
And finally, we also got a little more work accomplished in our mudroom area over the weekend. I’m so excited about it! And, come to think of it, have I ever showed you a finished picture of the built-ins that Jay custom built?? Well if not, here they are!
Aren’t they beautiful? He does such good work!
Not so beautiful is the mess of shoes underneath all of the cubbies…ugh!
I’ve been trying to find baskets to put under there (either something wicker or a galvanized metal) but I’m having the hardest time finding ones that would be big enough.
But besides the cubbies, we also put up somewhat of a “command center” too…and honestly, I’m still trying to decide if I want to change something up because all I can see when I look at it right now is HO.
WHERE TO BUY: Galvanized ‘H’ Initial // Clock // Dry Erase Calendar // Wall File Folder
Oy vey. : )
I had been pinning all sorts of elaborate command center pictures on Pinterest, thinking I wanted to try and do the same. But, honestly, it’s not that big of a wall and I really just wanted to be able to a) have a calendar to write stuff down, b) have something to hang on the wall to catch all of the mail and “junk” that piles up on the island, and c) be able to know what time it is as soon as we walk in from the garage. So for that, done, done, and done.
Now all we need to do is paint in there and we should be good.
I’ll check in again with you guys soon…have a great one!

I love tulips! A sure sign of nice weather to come! I never think to add health bits into cookies but oh my gosh I will be from now on! They are my favorite!

Those built-in shelves look beautiful! That’s so great that he can do that kind of project himself!

Love the mudroom! I found huge wicker boxes at IKEA. They were a bit more than I wanted to spend but I needed ones that fit our large spot for shoes as well. I love the command center but now all I can see if HO too. What if you found an arrow or something else small and decorative (could even be a picture! or saying) and moved the clock up just a smidgen and then put something else right below it. So the clock would be like half above the H. Does that make sense??

Ok, you know your heath cookies have a special place in my heart. So, to hear there’s been an upgrade is giving me the urge to bake a batch today!

I have made those cookies on a couple occasions and they are always a big hit!

Love the mudroom and your new command center! So cute and such a good idea. It drives me crazy when papers and random things pile up on the counter and/or kitchen table, so recently I just got a cute basket to put as a makeshift centerpiece where things can be thrown for the time being until I go through them. Jay did awesome!

The built-ins are beautiful! Can you switch the H and the clock?

I looooove home organization projects. Anything to get my family’s clutter in check!

The built ins look great! They definitely don’t look DIY. You have a beautiful mudroom.

I love the mudroom, Jay does nice work! How about moving the clock over the doorway? I can’t see the whole doorway so maybe that won’t work but just an idea. I love the idea of the command center!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Haha I would have never noticed the HO. You could always add in a framed print of some sort, or some sort of cute word art, if that makes sense. It can hard to decorate with an even # of things, so maybe find a 5th item?? The built ins look SO good. What a perfect spot for the boys to come into from playing outside!

I can’t stop laughing about HO. So, I would center the “H”, and move the mail holder over to the left and put the clock next to it. Even if you switched the H and the clock, it would look like “OH” (which to me, being from Ohio, would be pretty cool, but…..lol)
Nat says
All I saw was “HO” too…maybe switch them to read “OH” (:
Julie says
Wow, Jay did an amazing job!
