Easter Weekend 2018

By Courtney 4 Comments

Man, what a great weekend! Not only did we have a really nice Easter, but we also had plenty of fun with friends and family, too. <3

Backtracking a bit to Friday…I worked from home on Friday with both boys home with me for the holiday, so when Jay texted me saying he had to stop at Lowe’s after work, I texted back quickly telling him to come get us all because we needed to get OUT!

After a quick trip to Lowe’s we decided to use a couple of gift cards we’ve had sitting around and stopped over at Applebee’s for dinner with the boys. Knowing my parents basically live there on Friday evenings, we had a feeling they might be there, and sure enough they were! So we all joined up and had a great meal together.

Saturday was a nicer-than-usual day on the weather front, so we enjoyed a little extra time outside while Jay did got started on a little “spring cleaning.” With the boys’ help, of course.

We also dyed some Easter eggs, which was over just about as quickly as it started.

But hey, at least we had some eggs, right? ; )

After nap on Saturday, we headed over to Sarah & Jeff’s house for the evening and had a blast! The boys got to play and run around, and even got a fun, little picnic dinner.

Even better, the dads took care of hanging with the kiddos most of the time so us moms could enjoy a little champagne. Just because it’s always worth celebrating when we get together.

We got home a little later than usual, but the boys were having so much fun that it was worth it. Once they were finally to bed, Jay and I got to work on stuffing (2 m&m’s or a few coins in each) and hiding 70 plastic eggs.

Lucas is OBSESSED with Easter and finding Easter eggs, so we gathered up every plastic egg we could find in the house!

Easter morning was a hit, and the boys both loved running around the house to find their eggs.

Later in the morning, we headed over to Jay’s aunt’s house for brunch and another little Easter egg hunt for the kiddos.

They always do such a great job, and even though it wasn’t nearly as nice of a day as it was last year, I know my boys still loved it.

Once all eggs were found, everyone gathered back inside for a delicious brunch. My kids basically ate fruit, but mom and dad cleaned up with all sorts of good stuff.

After brunch, we made our way back home so Alex could take his nap, which gave Lucas plenty of time to play with his new Monster Jam trucks (we did find Lucas Oil Crusader!)

Then once Alex was up, it was over to my parents’ house for egg hunt #3 plus dinner.

We had prime rib and some yummy sides for dinner, followed by the most delicious, homemade chocolate cake.

Mom really outdid herself on that one – it was SO good.

And THAT, my friends, is a recap of our Easter weekend! Hope all of you had a great one, too <3

Holy smokes to chocolate cake looks good! I’d dive head first into it! The brunch spread looks amazing as well. I guess I’m just hungry lol i had a michilinda TV dinner Easter cause i wasn’t feelin too good. I made it through half til i remember i forgot to microwave it. I also had lunch niphew over and let him do a Easter egg hunt. There was a special one when he accidentally took a hawks egg up in the tree. It wasn’t impressed but i smacked it with a spatchula and it attack my man instead. Happy Esther and have a great week!
