Hey hey! Who wants to chat about some mediocre outfits of the day?
There isn’t really anything too uber exciting to show in the world of outfits recently. Honestly, I’m so behind on laundry that most of my favorites are heaped up in a pile in the basement to be washed. But besides that, I just haven’t had the desire to really search through my closet in the mornings for anything great. I guess maybe we’ll blame it on the weather.
But besides that, I discovered that I still had a few on the ol’ phone, so I figured I’d share with you today.
My outfit from my weekend at the ADADC Dairy Tour
- Sweater: Texture Knit Sweater via Old Navy
- Scarf: Stitch Fix
- Pants: Kut From The Kloth Danny 5-Pocket Knit Pant via Stitch Fix
- Boots: Bear Traps via Macy’s (from a few years ago, but the Kyletta is similar)
A random weekday work outfit (before it became FRIGID out there!)
- Top: Dolman Tee via Old Navy (couldn’t find the exact one but similar, similar, similar)
- Skirt: Merona Knit Maxi Skirt
- Scarf: Sole Society
A Wednesday work-from-home outfit of choice this week
- Sweatshirt: MSC BG Sweatshirt via Target (<—LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!)
- Yoga Pants: Express Fold Over Yoga Pant (mine are from about 3 years ago!)
- iPhone 6 Case: Maxboost Vibrance Series in Tiffany Blue via Amazon
And just for fun…here’s a look at my typical, M-F outfit from 4pm and beyond (aka, my cozies for once I get home from work)
- Sweatshirt: Who knows…used to be my dad’s YEARS ago.
- T-shirt: No idea
- Sweatpants: Again, couldn’t tell ya…they’re ancient
Like I said…not anything too exciting, but I still had fun nonetheless!

So in addition to those, I thought today would be a good opportunity to share some of my favorite cold weather…things, I guess we’ll say? Once the temps drop, there are certain things that get changed or added to my daily routines, as I’m sure is the case with many of you as well. Let’s take a look…
My Cold Weather Fashion/Beauty Favorites
Headbands
My friend Eileen made this for me a couple of years ago, but headbands are great when you know you’re going to be outside for a while but don’t quite want to commit to “hat hair,” which I inevitably get after wearing a hat for no more than five minutes. There are so many cute ones out there, like here, here, and here.
Infinity Scarves
You guys have probably already caught on to the fact that I love scarves. But I’ve actually sort of steered away from regular scarves and tend to just go for the infinity ones. I like the look of them better and, for me, they’re way easier to wear (aka…I don’t have to worry about how the heck to tie it!). Right now, Express has some adorable ones that I’m eyeing (plus they’re having $30 off $100 until Friday!) and so does Target.
Dryer Sheets
These things are a lifesaver when it comes to static during the dry winter months. I try to keep some extras either at my desk at work or in my car and they work like a CHARM when the static gets bad. I’ll just typically rub it under my shirt or wherever the static is, and it’s completely gone!
Intense Moisturizer
A blog reader (I can’t remember who!) recommended this First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream shortly after I blogged about my troubles with KP and I purchased it almost immediately. I can’t really speak too much for the KP (although it hasn’t been too bad lately!) but the moisturizer itself is amazing and feels great on dry skin. I tend to load up a bit extra at night before bed and right after I get out of the shower in the mornings.
Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy
I never used this stuff until we had Lucas, and it has worked wonderfully on him (he tends to sometimes get dry skin on his cheeks or under his nose when he’s sick). I’ve also used it on myself when I have a particularly dry patch of skin and it really is great. A little slimy though, so go light with it!
Boot Socks/Leg Warmers
I seriously LOVE this look so, so much. Yet, I still haven’t gotten myself a pair of them. I guess I’m worried that I’m not going to get them to look right?? Because I’ve certainly seen them worn before in styles that I’m not a fan of. But I really think that this is going to be the year that I give them a try.
What do you guys think? Love ‘em? Hate ‘em? Own any good ones you’d recommend?
Lip Balm
I am never, ever without lip balm. It’s not that I even have particular dry lips in the winter or any time of year…I think it’s more that I’ve gotten so used to the feeling of having it on that I feel naked without it. These are the two that I currently have in my purse (I love the menthol feeling of both of them!) but I’m not particularly loyal to any one brand.
Do you guys have any lip balm favorites?
Well, that’s a wrap! I’m sure I have more that I’m forgetting, but I’ll just include those next time around.
So tell me…what are some of your cold weather favorites??
FYI: Nothing in this post is sponsored, but it does contain some affiliate links. I always, always appreciate your support! xoxo <3
I love the look of leg warmers and boot socks. I just bought my first pair of boot socks a few weeks ago, and I definitely need to invest in more before people realize that I’m wearing the same pair all the time!
Where did you find them??
Definitely got to have the right boots for the socks..but super cosy!
I have already put the chapstick in both cars, my purse, coats, at work, within reach at home. Your at home outfit looks like mine! As soon as I can get out of work clothes and into comfy clothes or out of my workout clothes into a nice hot shower then comfy clothes I do it!
I like that first sweater! I’ll have to add it to my list. ;)
I have a couple pair of boot socks, and I just can’t bring myself to wear them because I feel like I can’t pull it off? Totally mental.
I bought my first EOS that I loved for a whole day before my dog ate it. boo dog!
Oh no!! Major bummerrrrr :(
I love coming home and changing into comfy clothes too! I need to get that moisturizer my hands are like sand paper.
I recently got some boot socks on sale at Banana Republic and am in love!! I need to go back and get more colors.
I’ve worn a scarf maybe 4-5 times in my life. In Florida they aren’t really necessary, but they are so cute this year I may have to give those infinity scarves a shot (I’d also be horrible and figuring out how to wear ‘real’ ones.)
I love First Aid Beauty. And infinity scarfs are a staple in my fall and winter wardrobes. There’s something about being cozy! Plus it totally pulls an outfit together.
cream colored sweaters with leggings and boots are my favorite!! and i love love love those head wraps – great for when i’m in dire need of a touch up for my roots, too! ;)
Those leg warmers are so cute! I love the look, but I think I would look ridiculous in them!
Haha, I’m worried about the same thing!
I think I may have recommended Ultra Repair! It’s amazing. I can’t be without it.
Amazing! Thank you!!
Did you get your Hue leggings yet?!
Yes! But I haven’t taken them out of the package yet, haha
I’m totally loving the boot sock look lately too. I haven’t searched very hard for them, but I guess I don’t even know where to look for them?! Have you seen cute ones anywhere?
Not really, but I haven’t looked a ton either. I did see some in Target that looked pretty cute though and I think they were only like $10?!
I love the idea of boot socks too, I just haven’t taken the plunge either!! I was hoping to try this year!
Also, could you maybe do a post on your morning hair routine? I love the look of your curls and as a busy Mama you must have it down to a science and from one Mama to a future Mama-to-Be it would be great to know some tricks!
Yes! Haha, I’ve had a bunch of people ask so I think I’m going to have to put together a tutorial soon ;)
I’m with you on the hat hair. I love the look of hats, but always reserve them for weekend errand runs when my hair is usually dirty.
My friend turned me on to Aquaphor for lips! It’s all I use in the winter now.
Haha, yes! Basically, if a hat goes on, it’s staying on ;)
I LOVE leg warmers & boot socks! I found several of my favorite pairs from etsy. Pinterest is a great place to search for them too! I always wear neutral colors, and have only a few inches popping out of my boots. They keep legs soo much warmer too, and are great to wear around the house!
Here is a link to easy leg warmers: https://www.etsy.com/search?q=leg%20warmers
Those are definitely cute…thanks for sharing, Stefanie!
I absolutely adore that first outfit! This winter, I am all about the boots. When I lived at home (so all my 18 years prior to now) I could only wear my nice boots for ~1 month before the snow hit, so I am loving wearing them nonstop in Vancouver!
Thanks Emma!
I love putting on my “comfties” while at home as well. And for cold days, I HAVE to wear fuzzy slippers around the apartment. Happy Thursday!
I NEED that headband!
I tried the boot sock/leg warmer look this week for the first time. L-o-v-e-d it! Not only was it an adorable look, I was super warm in the 14 degree day we had.
Where did you find yours???
Carson’s!
I always need a lip balm within reach too. My favorite is from The Body Shop and has SPF 15. It’s the only one I’ve tried with SPF that doesn’t make my lips feel like they’re on fire. The joys of having sensitive skin….
I hear ya, Fiona! Sensitive skin over here too…
Aren’t oversized sweatshirts just the BEST during the Winter? I always steal my boyfriend’s! ;)
YES!!! They’re my absolute faaaavorite.
I’m loving boot socks! I somehow went without them for years and picked up some really nice ones from Hue for like $4 at TJMaxx. Two of my other cold weather favorites right now are Burt’s Bees chapstick, shea body butter from the Body Shop, and the coconut body butter from Trader Joe’s.
Oooo, good to know! I’ll have to check out those spots – can’t beat $4!
WE are so on the same fashion page here… I am ALL about infinity scarves and sweaters– I would like to have all of your clothes, thanks. ;)
Hahaha, thanks Carrie! ;)
I’m obsessed with aquaphor! I use it in place of lipbalm.
I have little tubes of that stuff everywhere…in my bag, next to the bed, desk at work, gym bag, bathroom…lol.
I love your first outfit, and I live boot socks. I haven’t bought any either because all the ones I have seen are pretty pricey, but I am on the lookout. I don’t have a favorite lip chap. I really like switching it up and trying new kinds!
I’ve used aquaphor as my lip balm for years, the stuff is amazing!!! I keep big tubs in various places in my house and small 10ml tubes in my purse.
I always change into sweatpants/comfy clothes the minute I’m home in the evening, too.
I’d love to know how to do you hair with those curls/waves – I love the look of it and I’m pretty much the worst with hairstyling!
I agree with Danica! How do you get your hair like that? I’m horrible with hairstyling. I have no patience for it!
It sounds like I’m going to have to do a tutorial soon! I’ve had quite a few people ask ;)
I’m going to have to get a hair tutorial put together!
I love your dairy tour look! Looks so cozy. I’m seriously craving cozy because it went from fall to winter overnight here in Mass.
Since it’s become so cold and dry, I’ve switched from using 100% nighttime moisturizer to using mostly coconut oil on my face. It absorbs pretty quickly and if you use it sparingly it shouldn’t cause breakouts.
A big, warm blanket is also a must for cuddling on the couch. We have a big wool blanket from Woolrich that is so insanely warm and is big enough for two people to share. I can’t recommend it enough! They’re a bit expensive, but we’ve had ours for years and it still looks practically brand new and I know we’ll have it for many years to come.
I LOVE Softlips…the original kind in the thin white tube. Sparkle Mint was the best flavor, which you can’t find anywhere. But the vanilla is pretty legit.
Love the cream sweater from your first pic. I really like the boot socks look but I keep feeling like I can’t pull it off lol
I am loving the boot and sock look also! Have you checked out https://www.graceandlace.com/ ? They have some adorable boot socks/cuffs!
